"Collins 25th, Geabler 32nd in Marathon at Nationals"

Walsh's Ryan Collins (Sr., Creston, OH/Norwayne) (Pictured top right) and Tim Geabler (So,, Canton, OH/GlenOak) (Pictured bottom right) performed well in the marathon at the NAIA National Championships, this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky. Collins finished 25th in a time of 2:44.39, his personal best, while Geabler placed 32nd in a time of 2:50.42. For Collins it was his second trip to nationals, while Geabler was making his first appearance.

"Collins, Geabler to Compete in Marathon at NAIA Nationals"

Walsh will send Ryan Collins (Sr., Creston, OH/Norwayne) (Pictured top right) and Tim Geabler (So,, Canton, OH/GlenOak) (Pictured bottom right) to compete at the NAIA National Championships, this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, May 22-24. Both will compete in the marathon. Collins qualified last year.

"4 x 800 Relay Provisional National Qualifier"

The Cavs 4 x 800m relay team, comprised of Matt Finneran (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS), Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby) and Chris Zundel (So., Madison, OH/HS) qualified provionally for the NAIA Outdoor championships, at the Hillsdale Relays last weekend. The team posted a time of 7:48.50.

Cavs 7th at AMC Meet

Walsh finished seventh at the American Mideast Conference championships at Cedarville University last Friday and Saturday. Rain and snow hampered the championships both days. The Cavs did not have an individual place first or second in any event.

Pete Tsaftarides (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) (Pictured top right) was third in the shot put (47-00.00) and the Cavs 4 x 800m relay team, comprised of Matt Finneran (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS), Adam Vincent (Jr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) and Chris Zundel (So., Madison, OH/HS), was also third (7:59.55). Nick Aukerman (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) finished fourth in the steeplechase (10:19.94) and Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) was fourth in the long jump (21-09.00)

"Cavs Prepare For AMC Meet at Cedarville"

After a tune-up at Malone and Slippery Rock, Walsh is ready for the the American Mideast Conference championships at Cedarville University on Friday and Saturday. The Cavs were fifth last year.

Walsh finished second at the Malone College Invitational on Tuesday. Malone won with 143 points, Walsh was second with 123 points and Mount Union College placed third with 86 points. The Cavs garnered seven first place finishes. Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) was first in high jump (6-4) and long jump (12-8). Nick Aukerman (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) won the steeple (10:11), Alex Gray (Sr., Cleveland, OH/Orange) the javelin (167-10), Rob Lash (Fr., Shelby, OH/HS) the 400m H (56.2) and Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS) the 800m (2:02.2). Lash, Robinson, Scott Shreiner (Fr., Dover, OH/HS) and Martin Wejcman (Jr., Buenos Aires, ARG) captured the 4 x 400m relay.

"Cavs Perform Well at Malone"

"Cavs Do Well at Mount Union Open"

Walsh fared well at Mount Union College this past weekend. Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby) (Pictured top right) took first place in the 400m dash in a time of 49.68. Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) finished second in the long jump (21-.05) and third in the triple jump (41-11.00). Robinson and Fisher were also part of Walsh's winning 4 x 400m relay team (3:23.20), along with Rob Lash (Fr., Shelby, OH/HS) and Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS). Lash also finished second in the 400m hurdles (56.28). Pete Tsaftarides (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) was fourth in the shot put (45-10.50) and Alex McCallion (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was fifth in the 400m hurdles (57.32).

This week, the Cavs are at Malone on Tuesday and at Slippery Rock on Saturday.

Cavs Cancelled at Wooster

Walsh's scheduled meet at the College of Wooster was cancelled last Saturday. This week, Walsh competes at Thiel College on Wednesday and at Mount Union College on Saturday.

"Gary Robinson Earns All-American Honors in Pentathlon/Cavs Finish 26th"

Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) top right earned NAIA All-American Indoor Track honors in the pentathlon, after his third place finish at the NAIA Championships in Johnson City, TN. Robinson's score of 3,615 points is also a school-record and his time of 2:38.87 in the 1,000m is also a Walsh record. Robinson also finished seventh in the high jump (6'4 3/4"). Walsh finished tied for 26th.

The Cavs distance medley team of Paul Vincent (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield), Chris Zundel (So., Madison, OH/HS), Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby) and Steve Mackle (Sr., Malvern, OH/HS) finished 7th in the semifinals in a time of 10:29, but did not qualify for the finals.

Cavs Will Send Eight To Indoor Nationals

Walsh University will send eight to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee this week. Competition starts on Thursday and concludes on Saturday.

Here are the Cavalier qualifiers and their event; Matt Finneran (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) distance medley relay, Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby) distance medley relay, Rob Lash (Fr., Shelby, OH/HS), 55m hurdles, Steve Mackle (Sr., Malvern, OH/HS) distance medley relay, Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS), pentathlon, high jump, long jump, Adam Vincent (Jr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) distance medley relay, Paul Vincent (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) mile and Chris Zundel (So., Madison, OH/HS) distance medley relay.

At Mount Union on Saturday, Paul Vincent finished first in the mile (2:35.90). Chris Zundel placed second (2:43.30) and Matt Finneran third (2:43.80). Todd Fisher placed second in the 500m (1:09.26).

"Paul Vincent Shatters Mark in Mile/Qualifies For Nationals"

Walsh University competed at the Kent State Tune-up over the weekend. Paul Vincent (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) qualified for the Indoor Nationals in the mile (4:13.84) and shattered Walsh Wall of Famer Jeff Heiser's record in the process. Vincent finished fifth. The Cavs 4 x 400 relay team of Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS), Rob Lash (Fr., Shelby, OH/HS), Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) and Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby) hit the provisional standard (3:25:98). Fisher also qualified provisionally in the 400m (50.91). Robinson was also was fourth in the high jump (6-06.00) and ninth in the long jump (20-07.00), while Lash placed seventh in the 300m hurdles (42.15).

The Cavs are at Mount Union College this Saturday.

Cavs (4-7) Relay Team Sets Record at Windsor

The Walsh University 4 x 800 relay team set a school record at the University of Windsor in Canada on Saturday. Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS), Matt Finneran (Fr., Wadsworth,OH/HS), Chris Zundel (So., Madison, OH/HS) and Paul Vincent (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) set a new Walsh record in a time of 8:03.88.

Cavs (4-7) Fourth at Mount Union/Produce Indoor National Qualifiers

Walsh (4-7) finished fourth at the Mount Union College Invitational, but had many bright spots at the indoor meet. Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmdage, OH/HS) qualified in the high jump (6'8") and is a provisional qualifier in the long jump (22' 8 /12"). He won both events. Last week, he qualified in the pentathlon. Rob Lash (Fr., Shelby, OH/HS) also qualified provisionally in the 55m hurdles (7.98). Paul Vincent (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) finished first and shattered a long-standing record held by Wall of Fame Jeff Heiser in the 1,000m, with a record time of 2:33.30. The Cavs also qualified their distance medley relay team at Case Western Reserve on Friday. Steve Mackle (Jr., Malvern, OH/HS), Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby), Chris Zundel (So., Madison, OH/HS) and Paul Vincent qualified in a time of 10:26.93.

The Cavs are at the University of Findlay on Friday.

"Paul Vincent and Gary Robinson Qualify for NAIA Indoor Nationals"

Walsh finished in fifth place at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday. Paul Vincent (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) and Todd Fisher (Fr., Mansfield, OH/Shelby) won events at Case Western. Vincent was a dual winner. He won the mile (4:23.89) and is a provisional qualifier for indoor nationals. He also captured the 800m (2.00.32). Fisher placed first in the 400m (53.05). Gary Robinson (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) qualified for nationals in the pentathlon (3,371 pts.) with a third place finish at the University of Findlay on Saturday.

The Cavs are at Mount Union College on Saturday.
