"Cavs 9th at Mount Union"

Walsh (31-25) finished 9th at the Mount Union College Spring Invitational over the weekend.  The Cavs shot 388.  Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) paced the Cavs with a 91. Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) shot 95,  Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) 97, and Kaitlin Sescock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) 105.

"Tiffin Wins AMC/Region IX Championship/Cavs Place Four on All-AMC Team"

(Chesterland, OH) Tiffin University won the American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Championships today, held at Berkshire Country Club near Cleveland.  The Dragons finished with a total score of 344.  Tiffin's Jen Trow earned medallist honors with an 81.  Walsh (29-17) shot 352 and finished second.  The Cavs placed four on the All-AMC Team.  Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) fired an 85 to pace the Cavs.  She was joined on the All-AMC Team by Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS), Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) and Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley), who all shot 89.  Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) shot 102.

"Cavs at AMC/Region IX Championships"

Walsh (24-16) finished fourth at the Crowne Plaza-Colonial Classic, hosted by Robert Morris College last Monday and Tuesday.  The Cavs shot a final round 376 and finished with a two-day total of 737.  The University of Toronto won, with a score of 688.  Walsh will travel north to South Euclid, Ohio today, for the 18-hole American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Championships.  Walsh finished second last year.  The winner advances to the NAIA National Championships in May.

 

Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) shot a final round 89 and finished with a two-day total of 176.  Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) finished with a 92, and two-day total of 182.  Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) had a 95 and total of 187.  Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) shot 100 and finished with a total of 192, Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) shot 100 and finished with 202, Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) shot 103 and totaled 205, Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) scored 100 and finished with a 202 and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) shot a final round 108 and finished with a 214.

 

Schumacher leads the team, averaging 87.1per 18 holes.  Haver is averaging 87.6,  Foster is at 88.4, Trbovich (90.9), Ferriell (94.3), Spitzer (97.8) and Sesock (103.1).

"Cavs Finish 4th at Robert Morris"

"Cavs at Robert Morris College"

Walsh finished the first round of the Crowne Plaza-Colonial Classic, hosted by Robert Morris College.  Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point,  NY/HS) paced the Cavs with an 87.  Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) was next with a 90.  Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) and Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) shot 92, Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) and Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) shot 102 and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) 106.  The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow.

"Cavs Third at Siena Heights Invitational"

(Siena Heights, MI) Walsh (22-13) finished third at the ten team Siena Heights Invitational today.  The Cavs scored 365 and finished 12 strokes behind first place Olivet College (353) and just two strokes in back of second place Ohio Dominican University (363).  Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) and Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point,  NY/HS) each shot 90 for the Cavs.  Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) was next with a 92, Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) scored 93, Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) 95, Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) 96, and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) 100.

Haver leads the team, averaging 84.8 per 18 holes.  Schumacher is next at 85.8, Foster is at 86.7, Trbovich (90.8), Ferriell (91.5), Spitzer (96.7) and Sesock (101.8).

The Cavs are at Robert Morris University this Monday and Tuesday.

"Trevecca Nazarene Wins Walsh Invitational/Cavs Second"

Trevecca Nazarene University fired a final round 336 to win the Walsh University Invitational, held at Sanctuary Golf Course in North Canton today.  Trevecca finished with a two-day total of 682 and bested the second place Cavs by seven strokes.  Walsh led after the first round, but shot 346 today for a two-day total of 689.  Tiffin University finished third (712), Malone College fourth (713), Ohio Dominican University fifth (722) and Ursuline College sixth (897).  Tiffin's Jen Trow finished as tournament medalist with a two-day total of 153 (74-79).

Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) shot 89 today and finished 6th at 170 (81-89).  Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) and Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) tied for 8th at 171.  Schumacher finished 84-87 and Foster 86-85.  Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) shot a final round 85 and finished 13th at 178 (93-85).  Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) shot a final round 92 and finished 184 (92-92), Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) shot 91 and finished 101 (100-91) and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) shot 96 to finish with a 210 (105-96).

"Cavs Lead by Three Strokes After First Round of Walsh Invitational"

Walsh (11-10) leads Trevecca Nazarene by three strokes, after the first round of the Walsh University Invitational, held at Sanctuary Golf Course in North Canton.  The Cavs shot 343, with Trevecca scoring 346.  Malone and Tiffin are 12 strokes back at 355.  Ohio Dominican shot 367 and Ursuline 455.  The second, and final round will begin at 9 am on Tuesday.

Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) paced the Cavs with an 81 (35-46) and is seven strokes back of Tiffin's Jen Trow (74).  Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) was next for the Cavs with an 84 (39-45).  Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) shot 86 (44-42), Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) 92 (44-48), Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) 93 (45-48), Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) 100 (53-47) and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) 105.

"Cavs Finish Sixth at Youngstown State Invitational"

Walsh (11-10) finished sixth at the Youngstown State Invitational at Avalon  South Golf Course today.  Bowling Green State University won the rain soaked event, with a two-day total of 626.  Walsh shot 337 today and finished with a two-day total of 679.  Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) fired an 82 today and finished tied for 11th with a two-day total of 161. Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) tied for 25th, after shooting an 84 today and finished with an 18-hole total of 169.  Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) tied for 34th (86-90=176), Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) tied for 37th (97-81=178) and Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished 48 (92-95=187).  Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) finished 54th (103-99=202) as an individual and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) 56th (105-103=208).

"Cavs Sixth After Day One at Youngstown State Invitational"

Walsh (7-5) is currently in sixth place, 29 strokes back of Bowling Green State University, after the first round of the Youngstown State Invitational at Avalon  South Golf Course.  The final round is scheduled to begin at 10:30 on Tuesday morning.  Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) fired a opening round 79, and is tied for ninth.  She is six shots behind the leader.  Haver shot a 39 on the back nine and had 10 pars on the day.  Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) is tied for 25th after shooting an 85.  Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) is tied for 31st after shooting 86, Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) is tied for 43rd after shooting 92 and Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) shot 97 and is tied for 51st.  Stephanie Spitzer (So., Akron, OH/Green) shot 103 as an individual and Kaitlin Sesock (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) 105.

"Cavs 6th at Tri-State"

Walsh (7-5) finished sixth at the 13-team field Tri-State University Invitational today.  The Cavs finished with a 345 team score. The University of Indianapolis won the event (308) and Ball State University was second (310).

Tammy Schumacher (Jr., Whitney Point, NY/HS) paced the Cavs with an 82 and tied for 20th.   Kaley Foster (So., Manchester, OH/HS) shot 84 and finished 26th, Christine Haver (Sr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) fired an 88 (T-33), Andrea Ferriell (Sr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) shot 91 (T-47) and Christina Trbovich (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) shot 93 (T-55).

"Cavs Open Season at Tri-State on Saturday"

Walsh opens the  new season on Saturday, at the the Tri-State Invitational, in Angola, Indiana.  The Cavs return six letter winner from last season.  Walsh finished 24-24 last season and second in the American Mideast Conference.

"Christine Haver Named NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete"

Walsh University's Christine Haver (Jr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) has been named to the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Team.  Haver is a Marketing major with a 3.51 grade point average on a four-point scale.
