"Six Cavaliers Earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete Recognition"
Walsh placed six student-athletes on the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete team, the most of any NAIA institution. Selected athletes must be at least a junior academically, and carry at least a 3.50 grade point average. The following were selected from Walsh; Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge), Tyler Immel (Sr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway), Sean McBride (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Alex McCallion (Sr., North Canton, OH/GlenOak), Andy Schulz (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway).
Geabler, along with Josh Rogers (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) also qualified for the NAIA National Track Championships in the half marathon this past weekend at Dalton. To qualify, Geabler posted a time of 1:12:44, as did Rogers, with Winnyk posting a 1:14:30. Groholy qualified provisionally (1:16:40).

"Cavs Finish Strong Fourth at AMC/Region IX Meet"
Walsh (52-17-1) tied for fourth place with Roberts Wesleyan (144 pts.), at the AMC/Region IX Championships held at Tiffin University today. Malone College (29 pts.) won the event. Walsh's Josh Rogers (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) posted the best Cavalier finish (22nd, 26:34), and could receive an at-large berth for the National meet in Louisville, KY.
Other Cavalier finishes: Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) 23rd (26:37), Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) 29th (26:53), Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) 38th (27:17) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) 39th (27:18).

"Cavs Set for AMC/Region IX Championships at Tiffin"
Walsh (42-14) tuned-up for the American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Championships, with their 4x3 K relay on campus last Saturday. Walsh's "A" Team finished first, the "B" squad second, and "C" team sixth. Josh Rogers (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake), Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak), Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) and Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) were on the winning "A" team, with a time (40:46).
Walsh finished sixth at the AMC/Region IX Meet last year, with McKee and Zundel qualifying for the national meet.

"Cavs 6th at All-Ohio"
(Delaware, OH) Walsh finished sixth at the All-Ohio Meet, held at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio today. Malone College won the NCAA/NAIA Division. Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) led the Cavs with a 13th place finish in a time of 27:30.0. Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) was next at 32nd (28:22.0), Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was 36th (28:44.4), Josh Rogers (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) 39th (28:56.4), Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) 42nd (29:12.2), Andrew Schulz (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) 44th (29:17.) and Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) 48th (29:38.3).

"Cavs Win Co-Ed Invitational"
The Walsh men captured the Co-Ed Classic, held on campus yesterday. The Cavs (45) won over second place Malone (78). Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) placed first in a time of 16:23. Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) was second (16:51), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) was fifth (16:58) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) seventh (17:08).

"Cavs Fourth at National Catholic Cross Country Invitational"
(South Bend, IN) Walsh (23-3) finished fourth in the 18-team field at the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational, held at the University of Notre Dame today. Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) (Pictured top right) paced the Cavs with a 10th place finish in a time of 27:10. Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 15th (27:35), Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) 27th (27:50), Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) 31st (27:55), Andrew Schulz (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) 45th (28:27), Josh Rogers (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) 46th (28:29) and Tyler Immel (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) 68th (29:00). Other finishes include Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) (29:15) and Sean McBride (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) (29:20).

"Cavs, McKee, Win at Westminster"
Walsh (8-0) opened the season with a convincing win at the Fisher Invitational at Westminster College. The Cavs (32) won the event going away over second place Alderson-Broaddus (62). Gannon University (95) was third and Penn State-Behrend fourth (107). Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) (Pictured top right), a NAIA National Qualifier last year, won the race in a time of 27:20. In all, the Cavs captured four out of the top ten places. Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) was fourth in a time of 27:41, Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) finished sixth (27:52), Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) was eighth (28:06) and Josh Rogers (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) finished 13th (28:46).

"Cavs Open Season at Westminter on Saturday"
Walsh's men open the season this Saturday at the Fisher Invitational at Westminster College. The men's race starts at 9:30 am. Veteran men's Head Coach Dan McCallion returns for his 29th year at Walsh. The Cavs return 11 letter winners, including Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. V-St. Mary) and Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS), who participated at the NAIA Championships in '05.
