"Coutts, Grande and Webster Honored"

The Walsh University Men's Tennis Team has been recognized by the American Mideast Conference and the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) for excellence on the court and in the classroom. The Cavs men's team placed two student-athletes on the All-AMC Team and one as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Stephen Webster (So., Lexington, OH/HS) and Joseph Grande (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) were named to the All-AMC Team. Webster was selected in singles and doubles, while Grande was named in doubles only. Webster played first singles and finished with a 14-7 mark. He teamed with Grande at first doubles and the duo finished with a 5-5 mark. Webster also earned first team honors last year. Andy Coutts (Jr., New Philadelphia, OH/HS) was named as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Coutts, an accounting major, carries a 3.97 grade point average (GPA).

"Cavs Announce Signings"

Walsh University Men's Tennis Coach, Sherry Bossart, has announced the signing of two new recruits. Walsh is a member of the American Mideast Conference and competes in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).

Justin Collins (Lexington, OH/HS) and Justin Bair (Louisville, OH/HS) join the men's program. Collins earned four letters for Ron Shaub at Lexington. He was twice named first team All-Conference and was ranked 10th in Northeast Ohio (USTA) 160th in the Midwest (USTA). Collins went 16-4 at second singles his senior year and at first doubles as a junior. Lexington's 2004 team won the State Championship. Collins will major in Education (math). Bair lettered three times for Greg Parrish and the Louisville Leopards. He fashioned a 30-4 mark in singles and doubles. He also lettered on the basketball floor. Bair is a Computer Science major.

"Cavs Fall 5-0 in Region Title Match"

Number one seed Walsh (15-6) fell 5-0 to second seeded Cedarville University (20-4) in the NAIA Region IX/X title match, held at Stadium Courts today. The loss ended Walsh's string of nine consecutive wins and trips to the NAIA National Tournament.

"Cavs Reach Region Title Match With 6-3 Win Over Malone"

Number one seed Walsh (15-5) reached the Region IX/X title match, after defeating Malone College 6-3 at Harvard Courts today. The Cavs meet Cedarville University (19-4) at 1 pm on Friday for the right to advance to the NAIA National Tournament. The Cavs have won their last nine matches and defeated Cedarville 5-4 in the regular season. Cedarville reached the title match by defeating Ohio Dominican University 7-2.

Walsh has won ten conference championships in the last eleven years and have made nine straight NAIA National Championship appearances.

"Cavs (14-5, 8-0) Face Malone/Tiffin Winner is NAIA Region IX/X Tournament"

Top-seeded Walsh (14-5, 8-0) is hoping to capture another regional championship, when they meet the winner of the Malone College/Tiffin University match on Thursday in the semifinals of the NAIA Region IX/X Tournament. The Cavs play at 1 pm at Harvard Courts in Canton. The Cavs have won ten conference championships in the last eleven years and have made nine straight NAIA National Championship appearances.

Number one singles player Stephen Webster (So., Lexington, OH/HS) is 13-6 on the season, and has won seven of his last eight matches. Sean Smith (Jr., Edgewater, NY/Bradenton Academy) is 12-7 at second singles and has won six of his last seven matches. Joe Grande (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) is 9-6 at third singles; Greg Kerschbaum (So., Elyria, OH/HS) is 13-2 at fourth singles and has won 15 of his last 16 matches. "Cavs (14-5, 8-0) Win AMC"

Walsh (14-5, 8-0) captured another American Mideast Conference championship, after defeating Malone College (9-0) on Tuesday, Ohio Dominican University (6-3) on Thursday and Roberts Wesleyan University (7-2) on Saturday. The win against Roberts Wesleyan was the eighth straight for the Cavs, who are idle until May 3-5, when they play in the AMC/Region IX/X Tournament in Canton. "Cavs Capture AMC Regular Season Crown With Win at Roberts Wesleyan"

(Rochester, NY) Walsh (14-5, 8-0 AMC) clinched the American Mideast Conference regular season title, with a 7-2 win at Roberts Wesleyan University (6-7 3-4 AMC) today. The win was the eighth straight for the Cavs, who are idle until May 3-5, when they play in the AMC/Region IX/X Tournament in Canton. The Cavs have won ten conference championships in the last eleven years and have made nine straight NAIA National Championship appearances.

"Cavs Win Seventh Straight, Remain Unbeaten in AMC"

Walsh won its seventh straight match and improved to 13-5 overall and 7-0 in the American Mideast Conference, after defeating Ohio Dominican University 6-3 today. The Cavs won four singles matches and won at second and third doubles. Walsh closes the regular season with an AMC match at Roberts Wesleyan University (NY) on Saturday at 10 am. The Cavs can clinch the AMC title with a win at Roberts Wesleyan.

Walsh (11-5, 5-0) remained unbeaten in the American Mideast Conference, after defeating Notre Dame College 9-0. This week, the Cavs play three AMC matches. They play at Malone College on Tuesday (3 pm), host Ohio Dominican University on Thursday (3 pm) and travel to Roberts Wesleyan University on Saturday (10 am).

Walsh (10-5, 4-0) won two more American Mideast Conference matches last week, downing Seton Hill University 8-1 and Tiffin University 9-0. This week, the Cavs play at home against Notre Dame College in an AMC match on Wednesday at 3 pm. Last week's postponed match with Ohio Dominican University will be played on Thursday, April 20 at Walsh.

"Cavs Improve to 3-0 in AMC"

Walsh remained unbeaten in the American Mideast Conference, after dowing Seton Hill University 8-1 today. The Cavs are 3-0 in the AMC and 9-5 overall. They won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches. Stephen Webster (So., Lexington, OH/HS) won at first singles and improved to 9-5. Greg Kerschbaum (So., Elyria, OH/HS) won again at fourth singles and is 10-2. The Cavs are at Tiffin Universitiy on Wednesday (3 pm).

"Cavs (8-5, 2-0) Open Defense of AMC Title with Two Wins"

Walsh (8-5, 2-0) opened defense of its American Mideast Conference title with wins against Cedarville University (5-4) and Saint Vincent College (9-0) last week. "Cavs Sting Yellow Jackets 5-4"

"Cavs (6-5) Fall Twice"

Walsh slipped to 6-5, after falling to Case Western Reserve University (1-6) and Aquinas College (1-8) last week. The Cavs look to snap their two-match skid against Notre Dame College on Tuesday (4 pm) at home. It is also the American Mideast Conference opener for the Cavs. Walsh is also home to AMC foe Cedarville University on Friday (3:30 pm) and play at Saint Vincent College (AMC) on Sunday (6 pm).

"Cavs (6-3) Blank Myers/Face Case Western Reserve Next"

Walsh improved to 6-3, and won for the fifth time in six tries, when they blanked Myers University 9-0 last Tuesday. This week, the Cavs host Case Western Reserve University on Tuesday (3:30 pm) and play Aquinas College at Hall of Fame Courts on Friday (6 pm).

"Cavs Split at Kenyon College Invitational"

Walsh (1-1) opened the season with a split at the Kenyon College Invitational. Walsh edged Wabash College 5-4, before being handed a 0-7 defeat at the hands of Kenyon.

In the win over Wabash, the Cavs won three single matches and two doubles matches. Stephen Webster (So., Lexington, OH/HS) won 6-3. 6-2 playing number one singles.
