"Mudd 14th in Race Walk, Patton Reaches Quarter Finals in 400 Meter Hurdles"

Maria Mudd (Fr., Suffield, OH/Saint Thomas Aquinas) (Pictured top right) placed 14th in the race walk (18:49.72) at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held in Fresno, CA. Meghan Patton (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) (Pictured bottom right) reached the quarterfinals of the 400 meter hurdles and finished ninth (1:11.72).

"Mudd, Patton to Compete at NAIA Nationals"

Maria Mudd (Fr., Suffield, OH/Saint Thomas Aquinas) and Meghan Patton (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) will represent Walsh at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held in Fresno, CA, Mary 25-27. Mudd will compete in the 3000 meter race walk and Patton in the 400 meter hurdles. Patton qualified in the same event in 2005.

"Cavs at Al Campbell Open on Saturday"

The Cavs are at the Al Campbell Open at the University of Akron this Saturday. Campbell, the Walsh head coach since 1999, was the head coach at the University of Akron from 1968 until 1995.

"Cavs Finish 7th at AMC Championships/Ebony Williams Wins High Jump"

Walsh finished seventh (56 pts) at the American Mideast Conference Championships, held at Cedarville University. Malone College won the championships with 233 points. Ebony Williams (So., Akron, OH/Firestone) won the high jump (5-02.00) for the Cavs.

Sarah Richards (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) finished second in the shot put (39-00.00) and fifth in the discus (114-02). Lindsay Cooper (So., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Katie Wirtz (So., Lakewood, OH/HS), Meghan Patton (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) and Tess Francis (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) finished fourth in the 4x800m relay (10:06.07). Patton also finished fourth in the 100m hurdles (16:06) and Jackie Misiak (Fr., North Ridgeville, OH/HS) finished fifth (16:06).

"Cavs 5th After First Day of AMC Championships"

Walsh is in fifth place, after the first day of competition at the American Mideast Conference Championships, held at Cedarville University. Running events start at 10 am on Saturday, while field events continue at 10:30 am.

Sarah Richards (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) finished second in the shot put (39-00.00) and fifth in the discus (114-02). "Cavs Fourth at Geneva"

Walsh finished fourth at the Butler-Merriman Invitational, held at Geneva College today. Robert Morris College won the event. Tess Francis (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) and Jessica LeGrair (Jr., Copley, OH/HS) each placed second in respective events. Francis finished second in the 400m hurdles (1:07.52) and LeGrair in the long jump (15'09"). Sarah Richards (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS), Meghan Patton (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) and Jackie Misiak (Fr., North Ridgeville, OH/HS) each recorded third place finishes. Richards was third in the discus (121'02"), Patton in the 400m hurdles (1:10.99) and Misiak in the 100m hurdles (16.02). At Mount Union, Ebony Williams (So., Akron, OH/Firestone) took second in the high jump (5-00.00) and Richards was second in the discus (120-03). The Cavs 4x100m relay team, comprised of Brenna Kirkbride (Fr., Atwater, OH/Waterloo), Casey Fischer (So., Aurora, OH/HS), Haley Rogers (Sr., Akron, OH/Green) and Amy Vagedes (Fr., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished second in a time of 52.25. Patton was third in the 400m hurdles (1:07.84) and Misiak third in the 100m hurdles (15.78).

"Cavs Second at College of Wooster Invitational"

Walsh (136 pts.) placed a strong second at the College of Wooster Invitational today, finishing just three and one-half points behind first place Case Western Reserve University (139.50). The Cavs will compete at the Mount Union College Invitational this Saturday.

The Cavs placed well throughout the meet and recorded four first place finishes and three second place finishes. Tess Francis (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) won the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:08.46. Mikka Ray (Jr., Minerva, OH/HS) won the triple jump (33-10.00) and placed fifth in the long jump (15-02.00) and Ebony Williams (So., Akron, OH/Firestone) won the high jump (4-09.75). The Cavs 4x100m relay team, comprised of Brenna Kirkbride (Fr., Atwater, OH/Waterloo), Casey Fischer (So., Aurora, OH/HS), Haley Rogers (Sr., Akron, OH/Green) and Amy Vagedes (Fr., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) won in a time of 51.41. Sarah Richards (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) took second place in the discus (126-07), Amy Stermole (So., North Ridgeville, OH/HS) was second in the shot put (35-06.00) and Jackie Misiak (Fr., North Ridgeville, OH/HS) placed second in the 100m hurdles (15.68).

"Mitzel Qualifies for Nationals in Race Walk"

Jenny Mitzel (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Green) (Pictured to right) has qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in the race walk. Mitzel posted a qualifying time of 9:41.7 at the Mount Union Open this past weekend. The time was good for second place. The 26th annual NAIA Indoor Championships will be held in Johnson City, TN, March 9-11.

Amy Vagedes (Fr., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished first in the 55m (7.79) and Tess Francis (Jr., Waterloo, OH/Randolph) was third in the 800m (2:30.56) and Sarah Richards (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) third in the weight throw (42-10).

"Cavs 6th at Mount Union College Open"

Walsh (16-11) finished sixth (31 pts.) at the Mount Union College Open last Saturday. The Cavs perform at the University of Findlay Open on Friday and at the All-Ohio Meet, also at Findlay on Saturday.

Ebony Williams (So., Akron, OH/Firestone) finished third in the high jump (5-01.25) for the Cavs' top finish. Haley Rogers (Fr., Akron, OH/Green) placed fourth in the 300m (44.59), Tess Francis (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) was fourth in the 1000m (3.28.24) and Maria Crookston (Fr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) was fourth in the shot put (35.01.50).

"Cavs Finish Second at Case's Spartan Invitational"

Walsh (13-6) finished second (82 pts.) at the Spartan Invitational, held at Case Western Reserve this past weekend. Case won the event with 99 points. The Cavs are at Mount Union College this Saturday.

Walsh's relay teams performed well, led by the 4x200 team which set a new school record. Lindsey Walker (Jr., North Canton, OH/GlenOak), Haley Rogers (Fr., Akron, OH/Green), Amy Vagedes (Fr., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) and Casey Fischer (So., Aurora, OH/HS) set a new mark with a time of 1:50.66). The 4x400 relay team poster their best time of the young season, as Walker, Rogers, Stephanie Sielski (Fr., Lancaster, OH/Fisher Catholic) and Meghan Patton (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) placed second with a time of 4:18.87. Rogers also finished second in the 400m in a time of 1:02.31.

Ebony Williams (So., Akron, OH/Firestone) finished third in the high jump (5-00.00) and Sarah Richards (Sr., East Canton, OH) placed third in the shot put (35'7.25").

"Cavs 6th at Marietta Open

Walsh (7-5) finished sixth at the 13-team Marietta College Open this past weekend. The Cavs placed in the top eight in 12 events. Tess Francis (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) finished second in the 1,000m in a time of 3:26.76 and was opening leg of the Cavs' Distance Medley Relay team that finished fourth (14:16.52). Lindsey Walker (Jr., North Canton, OH/GlenOak), Stephanie Sielski (Fr., Lancaster, OH/Fisher Catholic) and Erin Koppel (Fr., McDonald, OH/HS) round out the relay team. Haley Rogers (Fr., Akron, OH/Green) placed third in the 400m (1:04.88) and Walker, Rogers, Casey Fischer (So., Aurora, OH/HS) and Brenna Kickbride (Fr., Atwater, OH/Waterloo) finished fourth (1:54.52) in the 4x200 relay.

The Cavs are at Case Western Reserve University this Saturday.
