"Cavs Place Five Players on All-AMC South Team, Dana Hartings Second Team/Nicole Offenbecher Named to All-Freshmen Team"

Walsh University placed five players on American Mideast Conference South Division Team. Walsh finished the season 15-25 overall and 6-8 in the AMC's South Division. The Cavs lost in the AMC Qualifying playoffs.

Sophomore transfer Dana Hartings (Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local/Clarion University) (Pictured top right) was selected second team. The right-hander pitcher paced the staff with a 10-14 record in 26 games. Hartings made a team-high 22 starts and completed 16 games, to also lead the team. Hartings fanned 101 batters in 148.1 innings pitched, with two shutouts.

Four players earned honorable mention recognition for the Cavs; Rebecca Adkison (Sr., Manchester, OH/Akron Hoban), Jessica Edmunds (So., Uniontown, OH/Lake), Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) (Pictured bottom right) and Kendra Shoup (Sr., Willard, OH/HS). Adkison, who earned first team recognition last year, played centerfield for the Cavs. She hit a career-best .321, drove in ten runs, tied for the team lead in runs scored (20), had six doubles and led the Cavs with seven stolen bases. Edmunds, the Cavs second baseman, hit .278, with 32 hits, including five doubles. Offenbecher, who was also named to the All-Freshmen Team, played first base and left field. Offenbecher led the team with a .432 average in a stellar first year. She paced the Cavs in hits (44), doubles (11), RBI (17), slugging percentage (.529), on base percentage (.455) and sacrifices (14). Shoup moved from second base to third base, and hit .303 in her final year for the Cavs. Her six doubles were second on the team, as were her 36 hits. Shoup is third all-time in career hits with 210, eighth in doubles (30) and tied for fourth in runs scored (115).

"Cavs Fall Twice at Rio Grande"

(Rio Grande, OH) Walsh's (15-25) season came to an end, when they were swept by the University of Rio Grande in the American Mideast Conference Qualifying Tournament today. Rio took game one 3-1, then won the nightcap 4-3 in nine innings. Rio Grande snapped a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Walsh starter Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) in game one. Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) was 2-3 with a run scored. Rio captured the best of three series, by scoring on a wild pitch in bottom of the ninth inning of game two to win 4-3. Offenbecher went 3-4 in game two, Rebecca Adkison (Sr., Manchester, OH/Archbishop Hoban) was 3-3 with a double and Jamie Notch (Jr., Suffield, OH/Kent) hit a two-run homer for the Cavs.

"Cavs (15-23, 6-8) Make AMC Playoff with Win at Cedarville"

Walsh (15-23, 6-8 AMC S) traveled more than three hours to Cedarville University on Saturday to play two innings and came away with a spot in the American Mideast Conference Qualifying Tournament. Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) drove in Rebecca Adkison (Sr., Manchester, OH/Archbishop Hoban) with the winning run in the top of the 10th inning, to lift Walsh to a 4-2 win, and into the post season. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) picked-up the win. The two teams picked-up the game in the top of the ninth inning, with the scored tied at 2-2, after darkness halted play at Cedarville on March 29. Walsh now travels to the University of Rio Grande (31-16, 3-2) on Thursday for a best of three series. Game time for Thursday's doubleheader is 3:30 pm. The final game will be play on Friday, if necessary. Rio Grande finished as co-division champs in the AMC South. Walsh and the Redwomen split a doubleheader earlier. Rio Grande won game one 11-9 and the Cavs the nightcap 3-2.

"Cavs Win Suspended Game With Cedarville in 10 Innings to Qualify for Post Season"

(Cedarville, OH) Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) drove in Rebecca Adkison (Sr., Manchester, OH/Archbishop Hoban) with the winning run in the top of the 10th inning, to lift Walsh to a 4-2 win, and into the American Mideast Conference Playoffs. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) picked-up the win. The two teams picked-up the game in the top of the ninth inning, with the scored tied at 2-2, after darkness halted play at Cedarville on March 29. They are also playing another seven inning game today.

Walsh will play on the road, in the AMC Qualifier Tournament, May 4-5.

"Cavs to Complete Suspended Game at Cedarville on Saturday"

Walsh will complete the suspended game from March 29 at Cedarville University on Saturday at 3:30 pm. The game is tied 2-2, going into the ninth inning. The winner will qualify for the American Mideast Conference tournament, May 4-5.

"Cavs (14-22, 5-8) Drop 3-4, Playoffs Doubtful"

Walsh (14-22, 5-8 AMC S) lost three out of four American Mideast Conference South Division games last week and are now a long shot to make the playoffs. The Cavs need help from Ohio Dominican, who plays Cedarville University on Tuesday. Walsh needs ODU to sweep Cedarville. Walsh then would have to travel to Cedarville to complete a suspended game from March 29. The game was tied 2-2 in the eighth inning, when darkness halted play. Walsh would then have to beat Cedarville to make the AMC Playoffs.

"Cavs and Shawnee State Split"

"Malone Blanks Walsh Twice"

Walsh (13-21, 4-7 AMC S) was blanked twice at Malone College today, 3-0 and 2-0 in an American Mideast Conference South doubleheader. The Cavs could muster only two hits in game one and four in the night cap. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) lost the opener to fall to 9-11. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) took a no-hitter into the 6th inning of the second game, when Malone scored twice on six hits. Pisciotta is now 4-8. Walsh is home to Shawnee State on Saturday for a 1 pm AMC South doubleheader.

"Cavs (13-19, 4-5) Win Two of Seven in Toughest Week of the Season"

Walsh (13-19, 4-5 AMC S) won two of seven games in what had to be their toughest week of the season. The Cavs are in fifth place in the AMC South, but only one game behind fourth place Cedarville University (17-14, 5-4 AMC S). This week, the Cavs play an AMC South doubleheader at Malone College on Tuesday (3:30 pm) and at home against Shawnee State University on Saturday (1 pm). These are the final AMC games for the Cavs.

Walsh managed only two runs in a doubleheader defeat at Mount Vernon Nazarene. MVNU won game one 3-2 and game two 1-0. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) took the loss in game two, despite allowing only a run on four hits. Geneva took two from the Cavs, by scores of 4-1 and 8-7. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) pitched well in game one, only to suffer the loss. Walsh defeated Ursuline College 7-5 in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Hartings was the winning pitcher and had two hits and three RBI. Game two was called because of darkness in the fourth inning with Walsh trailing 3-1. No date has been set to resume the game. Hartings pitched one of the finest games of the season in Walsh's 2-0 win over Ohio Dominican University, in the first game of an AMC South doubleheader on Saturday. Hartings allowed only two hits and fanned six. Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) drove in the first run with a single and Hartings drove in the final run. Walsh lost the nightcap 7-5.

"Cavs Split With ODU/Hartings Pitches Gem in Game One"

Walsh (13-19, 4-5 AMC S) split an American Mideast Conference South doubleheader with Ohio Dominican University (28-13, 4-2 AMC S) today. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) pitched the Cavs to a 2-0 win in the opener. The Clarion transfer tossed a two-hit shutuout, fanning six and walking three. She also drove in the Cavs second run. Walsh took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) single. Ohio Dominican gained a split with a 7-5 win in the second game. The Panthers rattled game two starter Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) for 16 hits. Walsh scored all five runs in the home half of the seventh inning. Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) doubled in two runs in the seventh.

Cavs Snap Seven Game Skid at Ursuline, Second Game Suspended"

Walsh (12-18) snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 7-5 win in the first game of a doubleheader at Ursuline College today. The second game was suspended in the fourth inning with Ursuline leading 3-1. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) was the starter and winner in game one. She also was also 2-4 with a triple. Kelly Sasavicz (Sr., Massillon, OHWashington) was 2-3 with a double and Jessica Edmunds (So., Uniontown, OH/Green) was 2-4.

"Cavs Fall Twice at Geneva"

Walsh (11-18) lost both ends of a non-conference at Geneva College today, 4-1 and 8-7. Walsh has lost seven games in a row. For the second straight day, Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) was the tough luck loser in game one. Hartings fanned 10 in the loss. Rebecca Adkison (Sr., Manchester, OH/Archbishop Hoban) drove in the Cavs only run. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) was the starter and losing pitcher in game two. Pisciotta was 2-3 at the plate and Adkison had two doubles. The Cavs are at Ursuline College for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday (3 pm) .

"Cavs Get Good Pitching, But Fall Twice at Mount Vernon"

(Mt. Vernon, OH) Despite two outstanding pitched games, Walsh (11-16, 3-4) fell 3-2 and 1-0 to Mount Vernon Nazarene today in an American Mideast Conference South doubleheader. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) was the tough luck loser in game one. She allowed only five hits. Jessica Modic (So., Poland, OH/HS) drove in one of the Cavs runs, with the other scoring on an error. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) gave up only four hits in the nightcap. She fanned six and didn't walk a batter in suffering the loss. Catcher Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) was 2-3 at the plate. The Cavs play at non-conference pair at Geneva College (3 pm) on Tuesday.

"Cavs (11-14, 3-2) Get Back to Business/Face Tough Week"

After winning five out of seven games the previous week, Walsh (11-12, 3-2 AMC S), the Cavs lost three out of four non-conference games last week. This week. the Cavs play eight games in six days. They will travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Monday (3 pm) to make-up last week's American Mideast Conference South doubleheader. On Tuesday, they play at non-conference pair at Geneva College (3 pm), Wednesday (3 pm) sends the Cavs to Ursuline for another non-conference doubleheader and on Saturday (1 pm) host Ohio Dominican in an AMC doubleheader.

Walsh split a non-conference doubleheader with Tiffin University yesterday. Kim Eash's (Jr., East Canton, OH/HS) two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Cavs a 5-4 come-from-behind win in game one. Eash drove in three of Walsh's five runs. Walsh battled back with two runs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) went the distance in game one to improve to 7-7. Tiffin erased a 3-1 deficit with six runs in the fifth inning of game two, and went on to win 11-7. Megan Bender (Jr., Akron, OH/Coventry) was 2-4 for the Cavs and drove in three runs. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) took the loss for the Cavs to fall to 4-4. Walsh was two to Notre Dame the next day, 3-1 and 14-0.

"Cavs Split With Tiffin"

Walsh (11-12) split a non-conference doubleheader with Tifin University yesterday. Kim Eash's (Jr., East Canton, OH/HS) (pictured top right) two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Cavs a 5-4 come-from-behind win in game one. Eash drove in three of Walsh's five runs. Walsh battled back with two runs in the sixtrh inning and two in the seventh. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) went the distance in game one to improve to 7-7. Tiffin erased a 3-1 deficit with six runs in the fifth inning of game two, and went on to win 11-7. "Cavs (10-11, 3-2) Take Five of Seven Games"

Walsh (10-11, 3-2 AMC S) won five out of seven games last week and opened American Mideast Conference South play with three wins in five games. The week also produced a suspended game at Cedarville University. This week, the Cavs host Tiffin University on Tuesday (3 pm), play at Notre Dame College on Wednesday (3 pm) and travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday (1 pm) for an AMC South twinbill.

Walsh extended its modest winning streak to four games with a doubleheader sweep of Edinboro University last Tuesday. The Cavs rallied to win game one 4-3, then blanked the Scots 1-0 in the nightcap. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) won her third straight game in the opener, providing power at the plate as well. Hartings two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Cavs a 4-3 lead. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) pitched a four-hit shutout in the nightcap. Walsh scored the games only run in the fourth inning, as Rebecca Adkison (Sr., Manchester, OH/Archbishop Hoban) reached base on an error and scored on Jessica Edmunds (So., Uniontown, OH/Green) RBI double.

Walsh's Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) was 3-3 with two doubles. In game two, Urbana jumped on Walsh starter Megan Pisciotta for a run in the first inning and three in second to take a 4-0 lead. Walsh tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the second, but trailed 5-4 going to the home half of the sixth inning. The Cavs tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning on a lead-off homerun from Jamie Notch (Jr., Suffield, OH/Field). Hartings relieved Pisciotta in the fifth and held Urbana scoreless the rest of the way. Walsh settled the issue in the 13th inning, when Rebecca Adkison singled home Jessica Modic (So., Poland, OH/HS) with the winning run. Adkison was 2-2 with a double and two RBI.

"Cavs Sweep Urbana"

Walsh (9-10, 2-1) continued to play well, with a doubleheader sweep of Urbana University (8-10, 0-2) in American Mideast Conference South action today. The Cavs won the opener 4-1, then rallied to win the nightcap 6-5 in 13 innings. Today, they travel to the University of Rio Grande for an AMC South doubleheader.

Walsh's Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) was 3-3 with two doubles. In game two, Urbana jumped on Walsh starter Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) for a run in the first inning and three in second to take a 4-0 lead. Walsh tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the second, but trailed 5-4 going to the home half of the sixth inning. "Cavs Lose First Game, Second Game Suspended"

Walsh (7-10, 0-1) lost its American Mideast Conference South Division opener 6-5 at Cedarville University yesterday, then had game two suspended in the eighth inning with the score tied at 2-2. No date has been set for the completion of the second game. Cedarville scored four runs in the first inning of game one against Walsh starter, and loser, Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary). "Cavs (5-9) Take Two at Saint Vincent"

Walsh (5-9) won both ends of a double header at Saint Vincent on Monday and was postponed at Gannon and at Cedarville University on Saturday. The Cavs and Cedarville have re-scheduled their American Mideast Conference South twin bill for Wednesday at 3:30 pm. The Cavs host Edinboro University on Tuesday (3 pm), play at Seton Hill University on Friday (3 pm), at Urbana University (AMC S) on Saturday (1 pm) and at the University of Rio Grande (AMC S) on Sunday (2 pm). All dates are double headers.

Walsh improved to 5-9 after sweeping a non-league twin bill at Saint Vincent College. The Cavs won the opener 5-4, then took the nightcap 1-0, with Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) the winning pitcher in each game. Annie Plouse (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/HS) singled and drove in the winning run in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 4-4 tie in game one. Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) went 2-3 and Kendra Shoup (Sr. Willard, OH/HS) 2-4 for the Cavs. Hartings came on in relief of Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) in the fifth inning. "Cavs Sweep, Hartings Wins Both Games"

Walsh improved to 5-9 after sweeping a non-league twin bill at Saint Vincent College today. The Cavs won the opener 5-4, then took the nightcap 1-0, with Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) (pictured to right) the winning pitcher in each game. Annie Plouse (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/HS) (pictued bottom right) singled and drove in the winning run in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 4-4 tie in game one. Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) went 2-3 and Kendra Shoup (Sr. Willard, OH/HS) 2-4 for the Cavs. Hartings came on in relief of Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) in the fifth inning. "Cavs (3-9) Split with Mount Union in First Games back North"

After struggling through a 2-8 spring trip, Walsh came home a split and twin bill with Mount Union College last Tuesday. This week, the Cavs hit the road three times, playing at Saint Vincent on Monday (3 pm), at Gannon on Wednesday (3 pm) and at Cedarville for their AMC South opener on Saturday (1 pm). All dates are double headers.

Walsh split a non-league double header with Mount Union College and snapped a six-game skid with their 2-0 win in the opener. Walsh then dropped the nightcap 11-3. Kelly Sasavicz (Sr., Massillon, OH/Washington) provided the offensive power in game one with a game-wining two-run homer in the fifth inning. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron Saint Vincent-St. Mary) took care of the rest, tossing a four-hit shutout to even her record at 2-2. Nicole Offenbecher (Fr., Massillon, OH/Washington) also went 2-2 with a double. In the second game, Mount Union scored in bunches to gain the split. The Purple Raiders scored two runs in the first inning and three in the third, fourth and fifth. Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) drove in two of Walsh's three runs with a single and Sasavicz was 2-2 with a triple.

Nicole Offenbecher leads the Cavs with a .393 average. Kendra Shoup (Sr., Willard, OH/HS) is batting .382 and Jessica Edmunds (So., Uniontown, OH/Green) .375. Kelly Jackson leads the team with seven RBI and Jamie Notch (So., Suffield, OH/Field) with two homeruns. Megan Pisciotta is 2-2 on the mound with a 3.00 ERA.

"Cavs Split With Purple Raiders/Snap Six-Game Skid"

Walsh (3-9) split a non-league double header with Mount Union College today. The Cavs won the opener 2-0 to snap a six-game losing streak, but dropped the nightcap 11-3. Kelly Sasavicz (Sr., Massillon, OH/Washington) (Pictued top right) provided the offensive power in game one with a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Walsh's scheduled non-conference twin bill with Mount Union College has been postponed until tomorrow. The Cavs and Purple Raiders will play at Walsh, with the first game scheduled for a 3 pm start.

"Cavs Fall Again, Skid Reaches Six"

(Savannah, GA) Walsh's record dropped to 2-8, after they lost both ends of a split double header. Walsh comes North with a six-game losing streak and play a twin bill at home with Mount Union College on Wednesday at 3 pm.

Campbellsville defeated Walsh 6-2, followed by a 10-0 loss administered by Georgia South-West. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) started and took the loss in game one. Nicole Offenbecher (Fr,. Massillon, OH/Washington) was 3-3 with two RBI in game one. Kim Eash (Jr., East Canton, OH/HS) was 1-3 and scored a run. In game two, the Cavs managed only six hits, with Eash going 2-2.

"Cavs Swept For Second Straight Day"

(Savannah, GA) Walsh fell to 2-6, after losing a split double header for the second straight day. Olivet Nazarene beat the Cavs 11-2 in game one, followed by a 3-2 loss to Park (Mo.) in game two. Audra Smail (So., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) started and took the loss in game one. Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) doubled and drove in a run for the Cavs. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) was the tough luck loser in game two, as Park snapped a 2-2 tie and won the game in seventh inning. Kendra Shoup (Sr., Willlard, OH/HS) had two hits including a double and Jamie Notch (Jr., Suffifeld, OH/Field) was 2-2 with a homerun. The Cavs play Campbellsville and Georgia Southern-West tomorrow.

"Cavs Fall Twice"

(Savannah, GA) Walsh fell to 2-4, after losing a split double header today. Trevecca Nazarene handed the Cavs a 9-1 loss in the first game, followed by a 13-5 loss to Pt. Loma in the second game. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) took the loss in the opener and Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron St. V-St. Mary) in the nightcap. Kelly Jackson (So., Akron, OH/Ellet) homered and drove in three runs in game two.

"Cavs Split Again"

(Savannah, GA) For the second straight day, Walsh (2-2) split a twinbill in Georgia. The Cavs lost 8-0 to Olivet Nazarene, before defeating Purdue North Central 5-1. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron St. V-St. Mary) started and took the loss against Olivet Nazarene to fall to 1-1 on the season. Then for the second straight day, the Cavs ended play with a win over Purdue North Central. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) (1-1) started and earned her first win in a Cavalier uniform, going the distance and scattering six hits and fanning three. Kendra Shoup (Sr., Willlard, OH/HS) was three-for-three and Karla Emery (Fr., Conneaut, OH/HS) went two-for-two. Jamie Notch (Jr., Suffifeld, OH/Field) homered and Jessica Edmunds (So., Uniontown, OH/Green) was two-for-two.

"Cavs Split Opening Games"

(Savannah, GA) Walsh (1-1) split a twinbill in Georgia today. After losing the season opener 11-3 to the University of Mobile, the Cavs rallied to defeat Purdue North-Central 7-2 in game two of the split double header. The Cavs are back in action on Monday, meeting Olivet Nazarene at 2 pm and Purdue North-Central at 4 pm. Both are seven inning games.

Mobile belted five homeruns in game one, on their way to an 11-3 win. Dana Hartings (So., Chickasaw, OH/Marion Local) started and took the loss for the Cavs. Rebecca Adkison (Jr., Manchester, OH/Archbishop Hoban) drove in two of the Cavs three runs. Megan Pisciotta (So., Uniontown, OH/Akron St. V-St. Mary) went the distance in the nightcap to pick-up her first win of the season against Purdue North-Central. Pisciotta was touched for two unearned runs amd allowed eight hits.
