"Cavs Walk For ALS"

The Walsh University Volleyball team stepped away from the playing field and lent a helping hand on Sunday, September 16 for ALS.  The team and coaches participated in a walk for the second year in a row in North Canton for the disease.  ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is the most common form of motor neuron disease.  It is a progressive and ultimately fatal neuromuscular disease that causes nerve cells to degenerate.  ALS also causes voluntary muscles to weaken and become immobile.

Junior defensive specialist, Jennifer Carona, is dealing first hand with this disease.  Her mother, Kathy Carona, has been diagnosed with ALS.  The volleyball team walked on Sunday in support of her and will continue to support the foundation for ALS in the future.
