2008 Golf Outlook

First year head coach Kyle Getter is optimistic about the Cavs chances for 2008. Getter returns 11 letter winners and two seniors from the 2007 team. Walsh finished 22-25 last season and fifth at the American Mideast Conference/Region IX Tournament. Getter returns a veteran squad, but will have to replace number one man David Rose (76.3). The Cavs also lose four-year letter winners Chad Coombes (78.6), Alan Dattilio (79.1) and Michael DiFabbio (79.9). 

Returning veterans and likely major players in 2008 include Mike Lenartowicz (Sr., Canton, OH/Perry), Sam Troyer (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway), Kevin Tournoux (Sr., Lakewood, OH/HS) and Jesse Green (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway). Also expected to battle for a top five spot are veterans Nick Gallo (Jr., Wickliffe, OH/HS), Justin Lenox (Jr., Canton, OH/Perry), and rookies Brant Harbert (So., Uniontown, OH/Green/Ohio), Kyle Ren (Fr., Dover, OH/HS) and Ethan Williams (Fr., Quaker City, OH/Buckeye Trail).

Lenartowicz played well this past fall, firing rounds of 76-78 and 78. He averaged 79.5 last season, with a low round of 75 at Cedarville. Troyer averaged 79.7 as a freshman, but played in just three tournaments last season (80.3). He shot 79-78-81 this past fall. Tournoux averaged 81.5 in five tournaments last year, with a low round of 78. He shot 76-77-82 this past fall. Expect these three to battle for the number one spot.

There will be a lot of competition the rest of way. Green averaged 82.5 in four tournaments last year and shot 78-87-86 in the fall. Lenox played in the Malone Invitational this past fall and scored an 80 and 77. Freshmen Harbert (91-80-85), Ren (86-84-87) and Williams (77-82-85) all got their feet wet this past fall.

Other returning veterans include Tom Eich (So., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney), Chris Evans (Jr., Toronto, ONT/Notre Dame Catholic), Pat Moro (So., Boardman, OH/HS), Dominic Reolfi (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Brandon Speck (So., Mansfield, OH/St. Peter's).
