"Ianni, Kristen Cady Named All-AMC/Bossart Tabbed Coach of the Yaer"

Walsh's Kristen Cady (Sr., North Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) were named to the All-American Mideast Conference team in singles and doubles and Head Coach Sherry Bossart was named Coach of the Year.

Cady, who played first singles, finished the season with a record of 11-10. Ianni played second singles and finished 12-7. The two played first doubles and finished 13-6. Cady is a four-time AMC selection, while Ianni earned honors for the second straight year.

Bossart led Walsh to the AMC and NAIA Region IX championships, and to the NAIA National Championships. The Cavs finished 16-5 overall and 9-0 in the AMC. This is the eighth time that Sherry has been named Coach of the Year.

"Brainard, Kristen Cady Named NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes"

Walsh's Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Ingrid Brainard (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) have been named Daktronics' Scholar-Athletes by the NAIA. Both were selected last year. Cady is a political science major, while Brainard is a communications/business major.

"Cavs Ousted by Southern Nazarene in First Round of NAIA Championships"

(Mobile, AL) Walsh (16-5) was defeated 6-3 by Southern Nazarene (OK) in the first round of the NAIA Championships today. Hilary Rossi (Fr., Warren, OH/JFK) and Jen Yost (Fr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) were victorious at third doubles 8-6. Walsh's other wins came at fifth and sixth singles. Megan Navarre (Jr., Indianapolis, IN/Center Grove) won 6-4, 6-0 at number five, with Rossi winning at number six.

"Cavs (16-4, 9-0) Battle Southern Nazarene (OK) in First Round Match at Nationals"

NAIA Regional Champion Walsh (16-4) meets Southern Nazarene (OK) in a first round match at the NAIA National Championships, being held in Mobile, Alabama, at the Mobile Tennis Center. The match is slated for a 1 pm start on Monday (5/14). Southern Nazarene received an automatic berth as the winner of Region VI. The winner meets fifth seeded Vanguard (CA) on Tuesday at 1 pm.

"Bracket Set for NAIA National Tennis Tournament'

The brackets have been set for the 27th annual NAIA National Tennis Championships, beginning Monday in Mobile, Alabama. Walsh (16-4) meets Southern Nazarene (OK) at 1 pm on Monday. The winner meets fifth seeded Vanguard (CA) on Tuesday at 1 pm. All matches will be played at the Mobile Tennis Center.

"Cavs (16-4, 9-0) Win NAIA Region IX Title"

Top seeded Walsh (16-4, 9-0 AMC) defeated Cedarville University 6-3, and Tiffin University 5-4, to win the NAIA Region IX Championship and capture the NAIA National Tournament berth. The Cavs will now head to Mobile, Alabama, the site of the 27th annual championships, May 14-18. Walsh last played at the NAIA Championships in 2005. Walsh enters the NAIA National Tournament with eight straight wins, and 16 in their last 17 matches.

Number one singles player Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) heads to Alabama with an 11-9 record, but has won five of her last seven matches. Number two singles player Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) is 12-6 and has won six straight matches. Cady and Ianni are 13-5 at first doubles and have won six straight matches.

Lindsey Cady (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak) is 12-8 and will play at third singles; Ingrid Brainard (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) is 16-3 and will play fourth singles. Brainard has posted nine straight wins. Brainard and Cady are 12-2 at third doubles. Megan Navarre (Jr., Indianapolis, IN/Center Grove) is 15-5 in singles and will play number five at nationals and Hilary Rossi (Fr., Warren, OH/JFK) is 14-5 and will play number six. Rossi and Jen Yost (Fr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) are 8-5, and will play third doubles.

"Cavs Capture Regional Crown With 5-4 Win Over Tiffin"

(Cedarville, OH) Walsh (16-4) is headed to the NAIA National Championships, after defeating Tiffin University (13-10) 5-4 in the NAIA Region IX Championship match today. The Cavs took three of six singles matches, and won at first and third doubles. The Cavs are now headed to Mobile, Alabama (May-14-18) for the NAIA Championships. Walsh last went to Nationals in 2005. They head to Alabama with eight straight wins.

"Cavs Down Cedarville to Reach Title Match"

(Cedarville, OH) Top seeded Walsh (15-4) defeated Cedarville University 6-3, and will play Tiffin University for the NAIA Region IX Championship at 1 pm on Friday, with the winner advancing to the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, AL (May-14-18). The Cavs won five singles matches in the win over the Yellow Jackets.

"Cavs (14-4, 9-0) Win AMC Title"

Top seeded Walsh (14-4, 9-0 AMC) meets fourth seeded Cedarville University in a semifinal match at the NAIA Region IX Tournament, this Thursday at 1 pm at Cedarville. The Cavs defeated the Yellow Jackets 7-2 in the regular season. If Walsh wins, they play the winner of the Tiffin/Ohio Dominican match on Friday at 1pm for the region championship, and NAIA National Tournament berth. Mobile, Alabama is the site of the 27th annual championships, May 14-18. Walsh last played at the NAIA Championships in 2005. Walsh enters the tournament with six straight wins and 14 wins in their last 15 matches.

The Cavs won their three matches, despite having number two singles player Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) out with the flu. Number one singles player Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) is 10-8 on the season. Ianni is 10-6 at second singles. The duo is 11-5 at first doubles. Cavs (14-4, 9-0) Win AMC Title

Walsh's (14-4, 9-0 AMC) defeated Malone College (9-0), Geneva College (9-0) and Cedarville University (7-2) last week to win their first AMC championships since 2000. Walsh will now look to return to the NAIA Nationals, when they play in the NAIA Region IX Tournament next week at Cedarville University (2-4). Walsh last played at the NAIA Championships in 2005.

The Cavs won all three matches last week despite have number two singles player Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) out with the flu for the Malone and Geneva matches. Ianni returned for the Cedarville match. Number one singles player Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) won 2-3 matches last week and is 10-8 on the season. Ianni won her only match and is 10-6 at second singles. The duo is 11-5 at first doubles. Lindsey Cady (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak) won all three matches and is 11-7; Ingrid Brainard (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) also won all three matches and is 14-3. Brainard and Cady are 12-2 at third doubles. "Cavs Win AMC Crown"

(Cedarville, OH) Walsh (14-4, 9-0 AMC) captured the American Mideast Conference championship, after defeating Cedarville University 7-2 today. The AMC crown is Walsh's first since 2000. The Cavs will now compete in the NAIA Region IX Championships, May-2-4, for the right to advance to the NAIA National Championships.

"Cavs (11-4, 6-0) Continue to Win, Tied for AMC Lead"

Walsh's (11-4, 6-0 AMC) had its eight-match winning streak snapped at West Liberty State last week, before they rebounded to win three American Mideast Conference matches. The Cavs are still undefeated in the AMC, after defeating Tiffin University (5-4), Ursuline College (9-0), and Shawnee State University (9-0). The Cavs host Malone College in an AMC match on Tuesday (3 pm), play at Geneva College on Thursday (3 pm) and play at Cedarville University on Friday (12 :30 pm).

The Cavs top six have been consistent all season. Number one singles player Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) is 8-7 on the season, after losing three out of four matches last week. Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) is 9-6 at second singles. The duo is 10-5 at first doubles. "Cavs Win Again"

"Cavs Shutout Roberts Wesleyan in AMC Match"

Walsh (7-3, 2-0 AMC) improved to 2-0 in the American Mideast Conference, with a 9-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan University today. The win was the seventh straight for the Cavs, who host Ohio Dominican University in an AMC match on Sunday.

Number one singles player, Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) won her sixth straight match and improved to 6-4 on the season. Senior Ingrid Brainard (Madison, OH/HS) won at fourth singles to improve to 7-2 on the season. K. Cady and Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) won 8-3 at first doubles to improve to 6-4.

"Cavs Post Fourth Straight Win, 7-2 at Ashland"

(Ashland, OH) Walsh (4-3) won its fourth straight match, downing NCAA II Ashland University 7-2 today. The Cavs posted five singles wins and two doubles wins. They are at Carlow College on Saturday.

Number one singles player Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) has won her thrid straight match (6-4, 6-4) and improved to 3-4 on the season. Number two singles player Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) won 6-3, 6-3. The duo also won 8-0 at first doubles.

Cavs (3-3) Even Mark, Hand Baldwin-Wallace First Loss

Walsh (3-3) evened its record on the season and handed Baldwin-Wallace College (9-1) its first loss of the season, 5-4 on Saturday. Walsh has won three straight matches since opening the season 0-3. Tihs week, the Cavs play at Ashland University on Tuesday, and at Carlow College on Friday.

Number one singles player Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) has won her last two matches and stands 2-4 on the season. Number two singles player Jenamarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) is 1-5. Cady and Ianni clinched the win over B-W, with their 8-5 doubles win on Saturday. Ingrid Brainard (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) has played third, fourth and fifth singles and is 3-2 on the season. Megan Navarre (Jr., Indianapolis, IN/Center Grove) is 3-3, and is on a three-match win streak. Navarre has played five matches at fifth singles and one at sixth.

The Walsh University Women's Tennis Team evened its record at 3-3, with a 5-4 win over Baldwin-Wallace College (9-1) at Hall of Fame Courts today. The win was the third straight for the Cavs. Walsh won the match, with their number one doubles combination of Kristen Cady (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and JennaMarie Ianni (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) besting B-W's Britney Shy and Tiffany Allison 8-5. The Cavs third doubles team of Ingrid Brainard (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) and Lindsey Cady (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak) evened the match at 4-4 with an 8-2 win.

The Cavs are back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Ashland University to meet the NCAA -II Eagles at 3 pm.

"Cavs Fall at Slppery Rock"

Walsh (0-1) lost 1-8 in their season opener at Slippery Rock today. The Cavs only win came out of the third doubles team of Megan Navarre (Jr., Indianapolis, IN/Center Grove) and Jen Yost (Fr., Massillon, OH/Jackson), who won 8-4.

"Cavs Open Season on Sunday"

Walsh opens the new season at Slippery Rock this Sunday at 1 pm. Walsh returns five letter winners from last year's 10-7 team, which also finished 3-2 in the American Mideast Conference (8-0) last season. Sherry Bossart begins her 21st year (194-121) as the Cavs' Head Coach.

"Cavs Receive AMC/NAIA Honors"

The Walsh University Women's Tennis Team has been recognized by the American Mideast Conference and the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) for excellence on the court and in the classroom. The Cavs placed student-athletes on the All-AMC South Team and had three student-athletes recognized as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Kristen Cady (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Jenamarie Ianni (Fr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) were named to the All-AMC South Team at singles and doubles. Cady, playing first singles, finished the season 7-10. Ianni, playing second singles, fashioned a 12-5 record. The two teamed at first doubles and finished 9-6. Cady has earned first team honors all three years at Walsh. Cady, along with Ingrid Brainard (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) and Kaylyn Moyer (Sr., Ravenna, OH/HS) were named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Cady, a political science major, carries a 3.69 GPA. Brainard, who also earned women's basketball scholar-athlete honors, is a communications/business major with a 3.69 GPA. Moyer is an education major and carries a 3.54 GPA.

"Cavs Announce Signings"

Walsh University Women's Tennis Coach, Sherry Bossart, has announced the signing of three new recruits. Walsh is a member of the American Mideast Conference and competes in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).

Madeline Lewis (Columbus, OH/Saint Francis DeSales), Emily Omicinsky (Massillon, OH/Perry) and Hilary Rossi ((Warren, OH/John F. Kennedy) join the women's program. Lewis lettered four years for Janet Wise at Saint Francis DeSales and was a three-time regional qualifier. She played at second and third singles and first doubles. She compiled a 17-3 mark her senior year at first doubles and was 15-5 her junior year. Lewis will major in Nursing. Omicinsky lettered in three sports at Perry High School. She earned four tennis letters for Sue Nelson, also earning letters in Basketball and Bowling. She earned first team and second team All-Federal League honors. She finished 11-10 at number one singles as a senior and 15-5 at second singles her junior year. Omicinsky will major in Nursing. Rossi earned nine letters at John F. Kennedy High School. She earned four tennis letters for her father, John Rossi, while also earning three letters on the softball diamond and two as a cheerleader. Rossi finished 12-5 at first singles and first doubles her senior year and 17-2 her junior year. She earned the following honors her final two years at JFK; Team MVP, Coach's Award, Silver Racquet Award and Steel Valley Conference All-Star recognition. Rossi is a marketing major.

"Cavs (10-7, 3-2) Fall Cedarville, Miss Playoffs"

Walsh (10-7, 3-2) lost its only match last week, 5-4 to Cedarville University on Friday. The loss cost the Cavs a berth in the NAIA Region IX/X Tournament. Walsh won the tournament last year and advanced to the NAIA Nationals.

Number one singles player, Kristen Cady (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) finished the season 7-9 in the top position and 7-10 overall. Freshman Jenamrie Ianni (North Canton, OH/Hoover) finished 12-4 at second singles and 12-5 overall. Cady and Ianni were 9-6 at number one doubles. Lindsey Cady (Fr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) finished her first season 6-11 at third singles, Kaylyn Moyer (Sr., Ravenna, OH/HS) completed her Walsh career 7-5 at fourth singles. "Cavs Fall 5-4 to Cedarville"

Walsh (10-7, 3-2) lost their chance for a share of the American Mideast Conference South Division title, with a 5-4 loss to Cedarville University (13-3, 5-1) today. The Cavs lost all three doubles matches, after taking four of six matches in singles play. The loss was the third straight for the Cavs, who finished fourth in the AMC South.

"Ohio Wesleyan Stops Cavs 5-3"

(Delaware, OH) Ohio Wesleyan University (5-1) downed the Cavs (5-4) 5-3 today. The Battling Bishops took two out of three doubles matches and won three singles matches. Jenamare Ianni (Fr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) won at second singles to improve to 7-1 and Ingrid Brainard (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) won at fifth singles to remain unbeaten at 7-0. "Cavs (5-3) Win Two of Three Matches"

Walsh improved to 5-3 after taking two out of three matches last week. The Cavs downed Case Western Reserve University 6-3, and then split two matches at the Kenyon College Invitational. Walsh lost 2-7 to host Kenyon, but then rebounded to blank Earlham College 9-0. The Cavs play a non-conference match at Ohio Wesleyan University on Monday (4 pm), travel to Saint Vincent College on Wednesday (4 pm) and host Baldwin-Wallace, at Harvard Courts on Friday (4 pm).
