Walsh University will send four athletes to the 27th annual NAIA Track and Field Championships, held at Fresno Pacific University, in Fresno, CA (5/24-26).
Maria Mudd (So., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) will be making her second trip to nationals. She will compete in the 3000m racewalk. Danielle Cofojohn (Fr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) will compete in the discus, Tess Francis (Sr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) in the 400m hurdles and Andrea DiNinno (So., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) in the marathon.
Francis will compete on Friday, with Cofojohn, DiNinno and Mudd competing on Saturday.
Walsh's Danielle Cofojohn (Fr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) paced the Cavs with a seventh place finish in the discus (126-25) at the Sparky Adams Invitational, held at Baldwin-Wallace College this past weekend. Ebony Williams (Jr., Akron, OH/Firestone) was eighth in the high jump (4-10.25).
The Cavs are at the Al Campbell Open, at the University of Akron on Saturday.
"Cavs 6th at AMC Championships"
Walsh (20-5) finished fourth at the College of Wooster today. Walsh had 93.5 points.Case Western Reserve won the meet with 118.5 points. The Cavs are at Mount Union next Saturday.
The Cavs lone win came from Ebony Williams (Jr., Akron, OH/Firestone) in the high jump.The former AMC champ won with a jump of 5.2. Danielle Cofojohn (Fr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) placed second in the shot put (36.5.75) and third in the discus (119.0).The Cavs received third place finishes from Kristen LeFever in the 800m (2:26.56), Lauren Blase (Fr., Boardman, OH/HS) 5000m (19:51.38), Tess Francis (Sr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) 400H (69.69), Jackie Misiak (So., North Royalton, OH/HS) 100h (16.59), and in the 4x100 relay (52.53) with Jessica LeGrair (Sr., Copley, OH/HS) , Brenna Kirkbride (So., Atwater, OH/Waterloo), Jessica Swihart (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Casey Fischer (Jr., Aurora, OH/HS).
Maria Mudd (So., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) and Vicki Tomsic (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) competed in the 3000m race walk at Cedarville University on Saturday.Mudd placed fourth, and met the provisional standard of 18:30, with a time of 18:25.63.Tomsic was fifth (18:47.68).
"Cavs (16-4) Fourth at Mount Union Invitational"
Walsh (16-4) finished fourth at the Mount Union College Invitational today. Malone College won the Invitational with 120 points. The Cavs had 58 points. Walsh recorded one second place finish and four third-place finishes. Tess Francis (Sr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) placed second in the 800m in a time of 2:21.99. Ebony Williams (Jr., Akron, OH/Firestone) finished third in the high jump (5-02.25), Danielle Cofojohn (Fr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in shot put (37-00.00), Mikka Ray (Sr., Minerva, OH/HS) in the triple jump (32-10) and Alicia Cooper (So., Atwater, OH/Waterloo) in the 1000m (3:19.04).
Walsh will compete in the University of Findlay Invitational this Friday.

"Cavs (10-1) Second at CWRU Spartan Inviational"
Walsh (10-1) finished a strong second at the Case Western Reserve University Spartan Invitational today. Case Western won the event with 82 points. The Cavs had 75 points. Walsh recorded one first place finish and three second place finishes. Kristin LeFever (Fr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) won the 800m in a time of 2:28.81. Ebony Williams (Jr., Akron, OH/Firestone) finished second in the high jump (5-01.75), Danielle Cofojohn (Fr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in shot put (38-00.75), and Lauren Blase (Fr., Boardman, OH/HS) in the 5000m (19:54.30). Blase was also third in the mile run (5:32.79). Jackie Misiak (So., North Roylaton, OH/HS) was third in the 55m hurdles (9.25) and Tess Francis (Sr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) fourth in the 400m dash (1:04.74).
Walsh is at the Mount Union College Invitational this Saturday.
