"Geabler 18th, Winnyk 27th in Marathon"

(Fresno, CA) Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) placed 18th (2:38.47) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) 27th in the marathon at the 56th annual Men's NAIA Track and Field Championships.

"Five Cavaliers Receive NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Recognition"

Five members of Walsh University's Track Team have received NAIA Daktronics' Scholar-Athlete honors. Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak/Math), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge/Early Childhood Education), Tyler Immel (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway/Accounting), Sean McBride (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic/Biology/Physical Therapy), and Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak/Management/Finance) were named to the team.

Geabler and Groholy were each selected last year as scholar-athletes.

"McKee 14th in Steeplechase Semifinal"

(Fresno, CA) Walsh's Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 14th (9:51.27) in the semifnals of the steeplechase at the 56th annual Men's NAIA Track and Field Championships, and failed to qualify for the finals.

Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge), Josh Rogers (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) will all compete in the marathon on Saturday.

"Cavs Will Send Five Athletes to Nationals"

Walsh University will send five athletes to the 56th annual Men's NAIA Track and Field Championships, held at Fresno Pacific University, in Fresno, CA (5/24-26).

Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) makes his third trip to nationals. He will compete in the marathon. Also competing in the marathon will be Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge), Josh Rogers (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name). Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) will be making his second trip, and will compete in the steeplechase.

McKee will compete on Friday, with Geabler, Groholy, Rogers and Winnyk competing on Saturday.

"McKee a Provisional Qualifier for Nationals"

Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) provisionally qualified for NAIA Nationals, with his 9:38.49 time in the steeplechase, at the Jesse Owens Meet at Ohio State University on Saturday. Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) finished sixth in the 400IH (57.75), but did not qualify. Walsh is at Allegheny College on Thursday and at Wheeling College on Saturday.

"Cavs at Al Campbell Open on Saturday"

Walsh's Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was the team's top finisher at the Sparky Adams Invitational, held at Baldwin-Wallace College this past weekend. McCallion finished 5th in the 400m hurdles (56.67). Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) was next with a 12th place finish the 5000m (16:12.57).

The Cavs are at the Al Campbell Open, at the University of Akron on Saturday.

"Cavs 7th at AMC Championships"
Houghton, NY) Walsh finished seventh at the two-day American Mideast Conference Championships held at Houghton College.
Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Wary) paced the Cavs with a third place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (9.54.05) and a sixth place finish in the 800m (1:55.25). Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was fourth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 56.51. The Cavs also picked-up the following sixth place finishes; Jerome Jackson (So., Euclid, OH/HS) in the discus (140-02), Pete Tsaftarides (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) in the shot (45-10.50), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) in the 5000m (15:52.90), and Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) in the 10,000m (33:44.90). "Cavs 7th after Day 1 at AMC Championships"

McKee Wins 1500m at Slippery Rock

Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Wary) won the 1500m (4:03.08) and was third in the 5000m (16:01.53) at the Slippery Rock Invitational last Saturday.

The men AMC Championship meet is next Friday and Saturday at Cedarville University.

"Cavs (12-11) Fourth at Wooster"

Walsh (12-11) finished fourth at the College of Wooster Invitational today. Next Saturday, the Cavs are at Mount Union.

Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) each posted first place finishes at Wooster.McKee was first in the 3000m steeplechase (9:50.62) and McCallion in the 400 hurdles (56.89).Pete Manfredi Sr., Euclid, OH/Cleveland St. Joseph) finished second in the pole vault (3.50m) and Jerome Jackson (So., Euclid, OH/HS) was third in the shot put (44-08).

"Cavs 9th at Muskingum"
(New Concord, OH) Walsh (5-8) finished ninth, in field of 14 teams, at the Muskingum College Open today. Tyler Pierce (Fr. Salem, OH/HS) paced the Cavs with fifth place finishes in the long jump (20-01.00) and triple jump (39-11.50). The Cavs 4x400m relay team of Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak), David Miller (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak), Andrew Saris (So., Smithville, OH/HS) and Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) took fifth place in a time of 3:35.72. McCallion also took sixth in the 400m hurdles (58.39), while Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished seventh in the 5000m (16:01.11) and ninth in the 1500m (4:16.50).
The Cavs are at the College of Wooster next Saturday.

(Johnson City, TN) Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 12th in his heat (9:29.62), and failed to qualify for the finals of the 3000m at the NAIA Indoor National Championships, held in Johnson City, TN.

"McKee, Manfredi Win at Savannah State Eyeopener"
(Savannah, GA) Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Pete Manfredi (Sr., Euclid,OH/Cleveland St. Joseph) posted wins at the Savannah State Eyeopener, in Savannah, GA today. McKee won the 1500m (3:58.7), while Manfredi won the pole vault (12'). Senior Alex McCallion (Canton, OH/GlenOak) finished fifth in the 400IH (58.2).

"McKee, Pierce Set for NAIA Indoor Nationals"
Sophomore Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and freshman Tyler Pierce (Salem, OH/HS) will compete for the Cavs at the NAIA National Indoor Championships this weekend in Johnson City, TN. McKee placed second in the mile and 3000m, while Pierce qualified in the high jump (6-02.75).

"McKee, Pierce Shine at Mount Union Open'
(Alliance, OH) Sophomore Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. mary) and freshman Tyler Pierce (Salem, OH/HS) paced the Cavs at the Mount Union College open today. McKee won the 1000m in a time of 2.37.40, while Pierce placed second in the long jump (20-.02.35) and third in the high jump (6-01.50).

"McKee, Pierce Pace Men at Findlay"
(Findlay, OH) Sophomore Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. mary) and freshman Tyler Pierce (Salem, OH/HS) paced the Cavs at the University of Findlay open today. McKee placed second in the 3000m (8:56.92), while Pierce tied for third place in the high jump (6-02.75).
Michael Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) finished fifth in the 3000m (9:23.89) and Chris Zundel (Sr., Madison, OH/HS) was eighth in the 800m (2:04.41).

"Cavs 9th at CWRU Spartan Invitational"

Walsh finished 9th at the Case Western Reserve University Spartan Invitational today. Case Western won the event with 91 points. There were 15 events scored. The Cavs came away with many fine individual efforts, including two first place finishes. Brandon McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) placed first in the mile (4:26.35) and Tyler Pierce was first in the high jump (6-04.00). Pete Tsaftarides (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) finished second in the shot (46-09.00) and Jerome Jackson (So., Euclid, OH/HS) fifth in the shot (44-09.75).
