"Geabler 18th, Winnyk 27th in Marathon"
(Fresno, CA) Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) placed 18th (2:38.47) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) 27th in the marathon at the 56th annual Men's NAIA Track and Field Championships.

"Five Cavaliers Receive NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Recognition"
Five members of Walsh University's Track Team have received NAIA Daktronics' Scholar-Athlete honors. Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak/Math), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge/Early Childhood Education), Tyler Immel (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway/Accounting), Sean McBride (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic/Biology/Physical Therapy), and Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak/Management/Finance) were named to the team.
Geabler and Groholy were each selected last year as scholar-athletes.

"McKee 14th in Steeplechase Semifinal"
(Fresno, CA) Walsh's Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 14th (9:51.27) in the semifnals of the steeplechase at the 56th annual Men's NAIA Track and Field Championships, and failed to qualify for the finals.
Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak), Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge), Josh Rogers (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) will all compete in the marathon on Saturday.

"Cavs Will Send Five Athletes to Nationals"
Walsh University will send five athletes to the 56th annual Men's NAIA Track and Field Championships, held at Fresno Pacific University, in Fresno, CA (5/24-26).
Tim Geabler (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) makes his third trip to nationals. He will compete in the marathon. Also competing in the marathon will be Mike Groholy (Jr., Parma, OH/Valley Forge), Josh Rogers (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) and Jon Winnyk (So., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name). Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) will be making his second trip, and will compete in the steeplechase.
McKee will compete on Friday, with Geabler, Groholy, Rogers and Winnyk competing on Saturday.
Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) provisionally qualified for NAIA Nationals, with his 9:38.49 time in the steeplechase, at the Jesse Owens Meet at Ohio State University on Saturday. Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) finished sixth in the 400IH (57.75), but did not qualify. Walsh is at Allegheny College on Thursday and at Wheeling College on Saturday.
Walsh's Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was the team's top finisher at the Sparky Adams Invitational, held at Baldwin-Wallace College this past weekend. McCallion finished 5th in the 400m hurdles (56.67). Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) was next with a 12th place finish the 5000m (16:12.57).
The Cavs are at the Al Campbell Open, at the University of Akron on Saturday.
Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Wary) won the 1500m (4:03.08) and was third in the 5000m (16:01.53) at the Slippery Rock Invitational last Saturday.
The men AMC Championship meet is next Friday and Saturday at Cedarville University.
Walsh (12-11) finished fourth at the College of Wooster Invitational today. Next Saturday, the Cavs are at Mount Union.
Brendan McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Alex McCallion (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) each posted first place finishes at Wooster.McKee was first in the 3000m steeplechase (9:50.62) and McCallion in the 400 hurdles (56.89).Pete Manfredi Sr., Euclid, OH/Cleveland St. Joseph) finished second in the pole vault (3.50m) and Jerome Jackson (So., Euclid, OH/HS) was third in the shot put (44-08).

"Cavs 9th at CWRU Spartan Invitational"
Walsh finished 9th at the Case Western Reserve University Spartan Invitational today. Case Western won the event with 91 points. There were 15 events scored. The Cavs came away with many fine individual efforts, including two first place finishes. Brandon McKee (So., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) placed first in the mile (4:26.35) and Tyler Pierce was first in the high jump (6-04.00). Pete Tsaftarides (Sr., Canton, OH/McKinley) finished second in the shot (46-09.00) and Jerome Jackson (So., Euclid, OH/HS) fifth in the shot (44-09.75).
