"Eight Cavs Earn NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Recogniton/Mudd 12thin RW at Nationals"
Eight Cavaliers have been honored as NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes for the 2008 academic year. Jen Birney (Fr., Dover, OH/HS), Lindsay Cooper (Sr., Canton, OH/Canton Central Catholic), Casey Fischer (Sr., Aurora, OH/HS), Abbie Marshall (Jr., New Boston, OH/Glenwood), Jackie Misiak (Jr., North Royalton, OH/HS), Angela Nord (Sr., Tallmadge, OH/HS), Stephanie Sielski (Jr., Lancaster, OH/Fisher Catholic) and Amy Vagedes (Jr., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) were named scholar-athletes.
Maria Mudd (Jr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished 12th (17:25.33) in the race walk at the 28th Annual NAIA Track & Field Championships, held May 22-24 at Ralph Kotre Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) placed 22nd in the discus (132-03) and Holly Gospodinsky (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) 25th in the shot put (36-00).

"Cavs to Send 7 to NAIA Nationals"
Walsh will send seven student-athletes to the 28th Annual NAIA Track & Field Championships, held May 22-24 at Ralph Kotre Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. The Cavs 4x800m relay team qualified for at the Cedarville University Challenge last Friday. Megan Case (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Kristen LeFever (So., Alliance, OH/Marlington), Kristen Havens (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) and Erin Koppel (Jr., McDonald, OH/HS) took first and qualified in a Walsh record time of 9:36.33.
Maria Mudd (Jr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) qualified in the race walk, with a school-record mark (17:00). Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) qualified in the discus (137'2") and Holly Gospodinsky (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) in the shot put (41'3"). Mudd and Cofojohn each qualified last spring.

"4X800 Relay Team Qualifies for Nationals"
Walsh's 4x800m relay team qualified for next week's NAIA National Meet at the Cedarville University Challenge last Friday. Megan Case (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Kristen LeFever (So., Alliance, OH/Marlington), Kristen Havens (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) and Erin Koppel (Jr., McDonald, OH/HS) took first and qualified in a Walsh record time of 9:36.33.
Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) placed second in the discus (119'9") and Maria Mudd (Jr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) took third in the race walk, with a school record and qualifying time of 17:00.

"Cavs Peform Well at Toledo"
Walsh did well at the University of Toledo Rocket Invitational today. While competing against mostly Mid-American Conference competition, Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) placed third in the discus (137'2"), to qualify provisionally for NAIA Nationals. Natalie Borland tied for third place in the high jump (5'1"), Abbie Sullivan (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) placed fourth in the 400m hurdles (69.57), and Emma Heck (Fr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) fifth in the pole vault (10'8").

"Cavs Place Fourth at AMC Championships"
Walsh finished fourth (111 pts.) at the American Mideast Conference Championships, held yesterday and today at Malone College. Cedarville University won the meet with 214.33 pts, with Malone finishing second (211.33), and Notre Dame College (129) third.
Maria Mudd (Jr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished second in the racewalk (17:43.01). Abbie Sullivan (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:08.67), Megan Case (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) in the 800m (2:22.11), Andrea DiNinno (Jr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) in the 3000m steeplechase (12:02.03), Amy Stermole (Sr., North Ridgeville, OH/HS) in the hammer throw (116.02) and Brenna Kirkbride (Jr., Atwater, OH/Waterloo) in the 200m (26.87).

"Cavs Third After First Day of AMC Meet/Gospodinsky AMC Shot Champion"
Walsh is third (46 pts) after the first day of the American Mideast Conference Championship Track and Field Meet being held at Malone College. Malone (74.33) leads the field, with Cedarville University (59.3) in second place. The meet resumes at 9:30 am on Saturday.
Holly Gospodinsky (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) is the AMC champion in the shot put, with a toss of 41-3. Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) tied for second (40-6 1/2) and tied for second in the discus (130-9).

"Cavs Second in Home Invitational/Kirkbride Wins 100 and 200m"
Walsh finished a strong second place in the first-ever Walsh University Invitational, held on Walsh's brand new track this afternoon. Walsh totaled 259 points, just seven points behind Malone College (266). Ursuline College finished third (189).
Brenna Kirkbride (Jr., Atwater, OH/Waterloo) was a dual winner, placing first in the 100m (13.09) and the 200m (26.55). Megan Case (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) won the 800m (2:23.60) and was a member of Walsh's 4x400m team which took first place (4:25.13), along with Kristen Havens (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Denise Sahli (So., East Canton, OH/HS) and Chantelle Richards (Fr., Akron, OH/East). Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) won the shot put (39'1.5"), and Andrea DiNinno (Jr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) the 5000m (19:18.99).
Katelyn Paul (So., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) was second (1:11.40) in the 400m hurdles and Abbie Sullivan (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was third (1:12.45). Casey Fischer (Jr., Aurora, OH/HS) finished second (13.35) in the 100m.

"Cofojohn Provisional Qualifier, Havens Sets Mark, Richards Performs Well at Kenyon"
Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) qualified provisionally for indoor nationals in the shot put (41'1"), with her toss at the Kent State Tune-up today. She place eighth. Kristen Havens (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) finished fourth in the 1000m and set a new Walsh record with a time of 3:09.01. The Cavs distance medley relay team of Havens, Megan Case (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Kristen LeFever (So., Alliance, OH/Marlington) and Denise Sahli (So., East Canton, OH/HS) finished third in a time of 13:12.78.
Chantelle Richards (Fr., Akron, OH/East) garnered two 3rd places finishes for the Cavs at the Kenyon College Invitational on Friday. Richards finished third in the long jump (14-09.25) and in the 400m (1:07.08). Hilary Datillo (Jr., Mason, OH/HS) also finished 3rd in the pole vault (7-00).
Walsh finished second with 112 points at the Case Western Reserve Invitational. Allegheny College won the event with 129 points and placed Case third with 112 points. The Cavs are at Mount Union College on Saturday.
Danielle Cofojohn (So., Diamond, OH/Southeast) finished first in the shot put (40-00.75), Ebony Williams (Sr., Akron, OH/Firestone) won the high jump (4-11.75) and Emma Heck (Fr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) was first in the pole vault (10-06.00). Heck also set a new Walsh record, shattering the old mark of 9-6, set by Erica Graziani in 1998.
Brenna Kirkbride (Jr., Atwater, OH/Waterloo) placed second in the 55m (7.69) and in the 200m (27.50). Kristen Havens (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) finished third in the 800m (2:30.81), Jackie Misiak (Jr., North Royalton, OH/HS) was third in the 55m (9.43), Amy Stermole (Sr., North Ridgeville, OH/HS) third in the weight throw and Jessica Swihart (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) third in the long jump (15-01.25).
Walsh finished fourth (111.5 pts.) at the Marietta College Open on Saturday. Seton Hill University won the Open with 143.5 points. Andrea DiNinno (Jr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) won the 3000m in a time of 11:30.31. Kristen LeFever (So., Alliance, OH/Marlington) placed second in the 1,000m (3:22.04) and was a member of the Cavs distance medley team that finished second (13:47.82). Megan Case (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Stephanie Sielski (Jr., Lancaster, OH/Fisher Catholic) and DiNinno were the other members of the team.
