"Williams Fails to Qualify for Finals"

Brian Williams (Jr., Canton, OH/McKinley) finished seventh (14.73), and failed to qualify by .03 seconds for the finals of the 110m hurdles at the NAIA Track and Field Championships, being held at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois.

"Williams Advances at Nationals"

Brian Williams (Jr., Canton, OH/McKinley) has qualified for the semifinals of the 110m hurdles at the NAIA Track and Field Championships, being held at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois. Williams qualified in a time of 14.85 today. The semis will be run at 1:40 pm on Friday and the finals at 4:40 pm.

"Cavs Send Three to Nationals"

Head Coach Dan McCallion will send three student-athletes to the 58th Annual NAIA Track and Field Championships, being held May 21-23 at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Matt Long (Jr., Mogadore, OH/Field) and Brian Williams (Jr., Canton, OH/McKinley) will make their first trip to Nationals, while Jon Winnyk Sr., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) will make his third. Long and Winnyk will compete in the marathon and Williams in the 110m hurdles.

"Cavs 8th at Oberlin/Harsh Wins Long Jump"

Walsh finished 8th at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Oberlin College today. Tiffin University won the meet. Dan Harsh (Fr., Perry, OH/HS) finished first in the long jump (21-10.25) and John Prokop (Fr., Zoarville, OH/Tuskey Valley) placed third in the hammer 127-07).

"Cavs Fourth at AMC Championships"

Walsh finished fourth (92) at the American Mideast Conference Championships, held at Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday and Saturday. Cedarville University won the championships with 217 points.

Joe Paulenich (Fr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) finished third in the discus (128-06) and shot put (43-03.00), with teammate John Prokop (Fr., Zoarville, OH/Tusky Valley) finished fourth in the discus (126.04) and shot (37.11.50). Andrew Saris (Sr., Smithville, OH/HS) finished third in the triple jump (42.05.50), and the Cavs 4x400m relay team of Saris, Chris Weirtz (Fr., Hudson, OH/Western Reserve), Jake Fait (Fr., New Philadelphia, OH/HS), and David Miller (Sr., Plain Twp, OH/GlenOak) finished third in a time of 3:27.50).

Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) finished fourth in the 110m hurdles (15.42), Miller in the 400m dash (51.74), and Dan Harsh (Fr., Perry, OH/HS) in the high jump (5-11.50).

"Cavs Win Own Invitational"

Walsh scored 213 points to win the Walsh Invitational Track and Field Meet. The Cavs bested Macomb Community College (162), Malone (89), Bowling Green (45) and Owens Community College (9).

Walsh produced seven individual winners in the meet; John Prokop (Fr., Zoarville, OH/Tuskey Valley) in the hammer (133-08), Kyle McBride (So., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) javelin (148-02), Joe Paulenich (Fr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) (132-11), Chad Rankin (Sr., Newton Falls, OH/HS) shot put (42-01), Andrew Saris (Sr., Smithville, OH/HS) triple jump (40-10), Tyler Pierce (Jr., Salem, OH/HS) high jump (6-0) and Dan Opeka (So., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) steeplechase (11:12.08).

"Cavs Fare Well at Hazen Open at Malone"

Walsh fared well at the non-scoring Jack Hazen Open at Malone University today. The Cavs host the Walsh Invitational next Saturday.

Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) finished second in the 110m hurdles (17.09) and third in the 400m hurdles. Luke Kelly (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) also grabbed a second place finish in the pole vault (13-00.00).

Dan Harsh (Fr., Perry, OH/HS) placed third in the high jump (1.78m) and long jump (6.09m). Luke Immel (So., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) was third in the 3000m steeplechase (11:05.91), Todd Cizak (Fr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) in the 110m hurdles (17.86) and Joe Paulenich (Fr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) in the shot put (13.21m).

"Long, Winnyk Qualify for Nationals in Marathon"

Matt Long (Jr., Mogadore, OH/Field) and Jon Winnyk Sr., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) provisionally qualified for nationals in the marathon at the Dalton/Massillon Half Marathon today. Long finished third in a time of 1:14:56, and Winnyk fourth in a time of 1:16.29.

"Cavs Second at Wooster"

Walsh finished a strong second (108) at the College of Wooster Invitational today. The Scots won the meet with 116.50 points. Edinboro University placed third with 88 points.

Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) and Andrew Saris (Sr., Smithville, OH/HS) each had second place finishes. Williams finished second in the 110m hurdles (14.84), and Saris in the triple jump (12.07). Saris was also a part of the Cavs' 4x100m relay team that finished second in a time of 43.87. He was joined by Jeff Tallman (Jr., Canton, OH/Perry), Dan Harsh (Fr., Perry, OH/HS) and Kevin Beichler (So., Smithville, OH/HS). Harsh also grabbed a third place finish in the long jump (19-02.75). Joe Paulenich (Fr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) finished third in the shot (44-04.00).

"Cavs Strong Second at Muskingum Invitational"

Walsh finished second with 124.50 points at the seven-team Muskingum Invitational today. The Cavs captured two first place finishes and three second place finishes. The Cavs are at the College of Wooster Invitational next Saturday.

Tyler Pierce (Jr., Salem, OH/HS) won the high jump (6-00.00), with Dan Harsh (Fr., Perry, OH/HS) finishing second (5-10.00). Luke Immel (So., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) was second in the 3000m steeplechase (10:45.44) and Jordan Johnson (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) was second in the 1500m run (4:23.98). The Cavs also took first in the 4x400m relay.

"Williams Fails to Make Finals"

Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) failed to qualify for finals in the 60m hurdles, at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships in Johnson City, TN. Williams was second in the prelims (8.32), but was fourth in the semifinals (8.35).

Walsh faired well at a non-scoring meet at Kenyon College today. Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) came away with a first place finish in the 55m hurdles (7.95) and Tyler Pierce (Jr., Salem, OH/HS) in the high jump (6-02.00).

Jordan Johnson (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS0 took third in the mile (4:41.80) and Andrew Saris (Sr., Smithville, OH/SH) in the triple jump (39-07.75).

Walsh (5-7) finished fifth at the six-team Oberlin College Crimson and Gold Classic. The Cavs totaled 77.33 points in 17 scored events.

Walsh captured three first-place finishes. Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley), who set a new school record in the 55m hurdles last week, finished first in a time of 7.79. Eric Klucar (Fr., Medina, OH/Highland) won the pole vault (13-07.25) and Tyler Pierce (Jr., Salem, OH/HS) the high jump (6-02.75).

David Leary (Fr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) finished second in the 10,000m (2:42.64).

"Williams Sets School Record in 55m Hurdles, Qualfies for Nationals"

Walsh's Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) set a school record in the 55m hurdles (7.71) and qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championships with his second place finish at the Case Western Reserve University Spartan Relay's today. The NAIA Championships will be held in Johnson City, TN, March 5-7.

Brad Schrecengost (Fr., Lakeview, OH/Cortland) placed second in the 35lb.weight throw, with a toss of 46-02.75 and Joe Paulenich (Fr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) was fourth in the shot put (41-05.75).

The Cavs are at the University of Findlay next Friday and Saturday.

"Cavs 4th at Marietta Open; Williams, Weirtz Capture First"

Walsh University (4-3) finished fourth (102) at the eight-team Marietta College Open today. Wheeling Jesuit (185.50) won the open.

Chris Weirtz (Fr., Hudson, OH/Western Reserve) and Brian Williams (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) captured first place finishes for the Cavs. Weirtz won the 400m dash in a time of 54.54, while Williams captured the 55m hurdles in a provisional qualifying time of 7.85.

Bob Fay (Fr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Brad Schrecengost (Fr., Lakeview, OH/Cortland) and David Leary (Fr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) earned second place finishes. Fay in the 3000m run (9:41.42), Schrecengost in the weight throw (48-08.25) and Leary in the mile (4:34.55).
