"2010 Cavalier Volleyball Camp Dates Released"

Walsh University, the 2009 AMC Conference Tournament Champions and NAIA National Tournament Qualifier, will host summer volleyball camps for elementary, middle school and high school-aged athletes from June 14-17, 2010.

"Freshman O'Donnell Named to AVCA Northeast Region Team and All-American"

Freshman Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) (pictured top right) finished a career freshman season with the addition of earning AVCA Northeast Region First Team honors and was also named NAIA All-America Honorable Mention.

O'Donnell is the first in Walsh history to earn All-American status as a freshman. She finished the year leading the Cavaliers with 454 kills, 46 service aces, 384 digs, and 35 total blocks. O'Donnell was also named the AMC Freshman of the Year and garnered AMC First Team Honors.

"Police Earns Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Award"

Senior, Amy Police, has earned the Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Award.

To earn this award, the student-athlete must be nominated by each institution's head coach, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify. Only 303 student-athletes have earned this recognition for the 2009 volleyball season.

"Cavs Eliminated From NAIA Tourney"

Walsh's (28-9) season came to a close as they were defeated in four sets by Indiana Tech (33-9) in a first round NAIA National Tournament match in Fort Wayne, Indiana today. The NAIA 17th ranked Warriors downed the Cavs 25-22, 28-26, 14-25 and 25-17. The second set was the key to the match, as Walsh led throughout and led 26-25 before falling 26-28.

Each team was making their second straight trip to the National Tournament. Indiana Tech will now advance to Sioux City, Iowa.

Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) led the Cavs attack with 18 kills. She also added 12 digs. Natalie Borland (MB, 6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) added 13 kills and a team-high three blocks. Brittany Morris (MB, 5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) chipped in 10 kills and three aces and Hannah Duran (Fr., 5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) handed out 45 assists and had 11 digs. Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) led the Cavs with 35 digs.

"Borland, O'Donnell Earn First Team All-AMC, O'Donnell Top Freshmen"

The accolades were handed out for the NAIA tournament boundWalsh Cavaliers today(28-8). Natalie Borland (MB, 6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) pictured left and Julianne O'Donnell (OH, 5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) were named to the American Mideast Conference First-Team, with O'Donnell also receiving Freshmen of the Year honors.

Setter Hannah Duran (Fr., 5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) was named second-team All-AMC and to the freshmen team and Brittany Morris (MB, 5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) was named honorable mention.

Borland finished in the AMC with a .373 attack percentage. She has 353 kills and a 2.7 kill per game average. O'Donnell led Walsh with 449 kills (8th AMC) for a 3.5 per game average (7th AMC) and .268 attack percentage.

Morris is third in the AMC with a .371 attack percentage and averages 2.6 kills. She totaled 336 kills on the season. Duran led the AMC with an 11.5 assist average and is third with 1484 total assists.

Walsh opens NAIA tournament action on Saturday at Indiana Tech University (32-6).

"Cavs Win AMC Tournament, Face Indiana Tech in NAIA First Round National Tournament Match"

Walsh (28-8) played some of its finest volleyball of the season in winning the American Mideast Conference Tournament last weekend to advance to the NAIA National Tournament for the second straight year. The Cavs will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana to meet Indiana Tech University (32-6) on Saturday at 1pm. The Warriors captured their second straight Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship with a 3-1 win over NAIA #22 Madonna University last Tuesday night. The Warriors are currently ranked 17th in the nation. This will be their second trip to the NAIA National Tournament. The Cavs will be making their fifth trip and second straight under Krista Burrows (168-58, 6th yr.).

Third-seeded Walsh advanced to the championship match of the American Mideast Conference Tournament with a five-set victory over second-seeded Cedarville University (15-23) on Saturday afternoon. After dropping the first set 22-25, Walsh rallied to win games two and three by scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Cedarville evened the match with a 25-19 win in game four, before the Cavs took the deciding game 15-9. Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) paced the Cavs with 15 kills, with Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) adding 15 and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) 11. Freshman setter Hannah Duran (5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) handed out 50 assists. Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) paced the effort with 26 digs. Phillips added 17 and Marie Jubak (5-8, So., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) 15.

The Cavs then won the championship match in five sets over fourth-seeded Point Park University (32-8) by the scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-10. The win was especially impressive after Walsh dropped game four after holding a 22-18 lead. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) paced a balanced attack with 18 kills and 25 digs. Brittany Morris added 17 kills and 15 digs, Natalie Borland 13 kills, and Natalie Phillips 12 kills and 23 digs. Kristen Rohlfs led both teams with 35 digs. Setter Hannah Duran handed 64 assists and Marie Jubak (5-8, So., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) 18 digs.

"Walsh Draws Indiana Tech in NAIA Opening Round Play"

Walsh (28-8) will travel to Indiana Tech University (32-6) in the opening round match of the NAIA National Tournament. Indiana Tech won the WHAC Conference Tournament and is currently ranked 17th in the nation.

The opening round matches will be played on Saturday, November 21. Match time is 1 pm.

"Cavs Win AMC Tournament, Advance to NAIA Nationals for Second Straight Season"

(Mt. Vernon, OH) For the second straight season the Walsh University Cavaliers (28-8) will take part in the NAIA National Championships. The Cavs advanced by winning the American Mideast Conference Tournament today at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. The third-seeded Cavs won the championship match in five sets over fourth-seeded Point Park University (32-8) by the scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-10.

Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) led the team with 18 kills and added 26 digs. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led the balanced attack with 64 assists and also contributed 9 digs. Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua), Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS), and Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) each had double-digit kills with 17, 13, and 12, respectively. Sophomore libero, Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 35 digs. Phillips had a double-double with 23 digs and Marie Jubak (5-7, So., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) and Morris were also in double-digit digs with 18 and 15. Morris also had a team-high 3 blocks.

The Cavaliers will play Saturday, November 21 in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament. Seedings and pairings will be announced on Sunday, November 15th, at 7pm.

"Cavs Advance to AMC Tournament Title Game with Win over Cedarville"

(Mt. Vernon, OH) Walsh (27-8) advanced to the championship match of the American Mideast Conference Tournament with a five set victory over second-seeded Cedarville University (15-23) this afternoon. The third-seeded Cavs will meet fourth-seeded Point Park University (32-7) at 5 pm today in the title match. Point Park upset top seeded Mt. Vernon Nazarene earlier today. The winner earns the AMC's second automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Walsh qualified for the national tournament last year.

After dropping the first set 22-25, Walsh rallied to win games two and three by scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Cedarville evened the match with a 25-19 win in game four, before the Cavs took the deciding game 15-9.

Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) paced the Cavs with 15 kills, with Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) pictured left adding 15 and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) 11. Freshman setter Hannah Duran (5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) handed out 50 assists.

"Cavs Close Regular Season with loss at Mt. Vernon/Meet Cedarville in AMC Playoff"

Walsh fell to 26-8 and to 8-4 in the AMC after losing their regular season finale at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (32-7, 10-2) last Thursday. Walsh is the third seed for the AMC Tournament and will play Cedarville University at 1 pm at Mount Vernon on Saturday in the AMC Tournament, with the winner advancing to the championship match.

Walsh fell to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 13-25, 29-31). Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) paced the Cavs with 52 assists and 21 digs. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) led with 15 kills, Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) added 11 kills and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) contributed 10 kills and two aces.

Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) led the team with 30 digs, Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) added 24 and Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) 23.

"Cavs Fall in Four at Mt. Vernon"

(Mt. Vernon, OH) Walsh (26-8, 8-4 AMC) fell to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University (33-7, 10-2) in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 13-25, 29-31) in an American Mideast Conference match tonight. The loss drops into the fourth seed for the upcoming AMC Tournament, which begins next Friday (11/13) at Mt. Vernon. The Cavs play Point Park University in a first round match. If they win, they'll meet up again with Mt. Vernon.

Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) pictured left paced the Cavs with 52 assists and 21 digs. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) led with 15 kills, Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) added 11 kills and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) contributed 10 kills and two aces.

"Cavs Split AMC Matches on Road"

(Lima, OH) Walsh (26-7, 8-3 AMC) split a pair of American Mideast Confernce matches on the road today. After downing Daemen College in four games (27-29, 32-30, 25-21, 25-19), the Cavs fell in three straight to the University of Northwestern Ohio (23-25, 21-25, 23-25). Walsh closes the regular season with an AMC contest at Mount Vernon Nazarene University next Thursday night at 7 pm.

Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) and Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) paced the Cavs in the win over Daemen. O'Donnell led with 23 kills, while Duran handed out 57 assists. Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) led with 25 digs.

In the loss to the Racers, Duran handed out 21 assists and Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) had eight kills and16 digs.

"Cavs Handle the Storm on Senior Night"

Walsh (25-6, 7-2 AMC) bounced back from their loss earlier this week and beat the Lake Erie College Storm in straight sets. Walsh took the match with scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-19. The offense was led by the middles; Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) with 12 kills and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) with 8 kills, 2 aces and 2.5 blocks. The defense was defense was lead by Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) with 15 digs and Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) with 14. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) dished out 32 assists.

The match started with a tribute to the two seniors on the squad Natalie Borland and Amy Police. They both played a fantastic match in their final regular season home game.

Walsh travels to UNOH this weekend for a tri-match with Daemen and UNOH before finishing out the season next week with Mount Vernon.

"Yellow Jackets Stun Cavs"

(Cedarville, OH) Walsh (24-6, 7-2 AMC) lost for the fourth time in their last five matches after being upset at Cedarville University (12-19, 6-3) tonight in four sets by the scores of 18-25, 21-25, 26-24,18-25.Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) led the Cavs with 13 kills and three blocks. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) dished out 41 assists, Marie Jubak (5-8, So., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) had 11 digs and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) recorded one ace.

The Cavs are home to meet Lake Erie College on Thursday night at 7 pm. It is Senior Night.

Lauren Rohlfs, a 5-7 Defensive Specialist/Setter from Mount Notre Dame High School, has made a verbal commitment to continue her athletic and academic career at Walsh University in the fall of 2010. Lauren is the sister of current Cavalier, Kristen Rohlfs.

"Walsh Splits on Second Day of Madonna Classic"

Walsh (24-5, 7-1AMC) split a pair of matches today to finish the Crusader Classic. Walsh pushed #18 Madonna University to four close sets today, losing 30-32, 18-25, 25-21, 29-31. Walsh had four players in double-digit kills, with Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) leading the way with 20 kills and adding 8 digs. Senior, Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) added a career-high 21 kills and a team-high 3 blocks. Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) chipped in 10 kills and 2.5 blocks. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) had a double-double with 13 kills and 20 digs and Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led the offense with 52 assists and also added 14 digs against the Crusaders. Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) had a team-high 24 digs in the loss.

Walsh then swept UM-Dearborn in the final match by the scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-18. Duran had 39 assists and Morris had a team-high 2.5 blocks. Borland hit .842 with 16 kills and also added 1.5 blocks. Police led in digs with 12.

O'Donnell was named to the Crusader Classic All-Tournament Team.

Walsh travels to Cedarville University on Tuesday, October 27, for an AMC matchup at 7pm. Cedarville is currently 4-3 in the conference.

"Cavs Lose Two at Madonna"

Walsh (23-4, 7-1 AMC) lost two matches today at the Madonna Crusader Classic. Walsh faced #20 Taylor in the first match and lost by scores of 21-25, 24-26, 19-25. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic)had a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs, her eleventh double-double on the year. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) had 35 assists and 13 digs. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) led with a team-high 19 digs and Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) and Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) contributed 14 and 13 digs, respectively. Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) had a team-high and career-high 3 service aces.

In match two, Walsh could not rebound in a two set deficit to defeat Indiana Wesleyan. Set scores were 21-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-13, 12-15. O'Donnell had another double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs. Duran added 47 assists and 9 digs. Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) and Golic led in digs with 18 apiece and Phillips chipped in 11 digs. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) led with 17 kills and Morris had a team-high 3 blocks.

Walsh is back in action tomorrow when they face host, #18 Madonna University, at 9:30am and finish the weekend against UM-Dearborn at 11:30am.

"Phillips Leads Walsh Past Ursuline"

Walsh (23-2, 7-1 AMC) swept Ursuline College tonight. Set scores were 25-15, 25-19, 25-13. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) led the Cavaliers with her second double-double in a row. Phillips led with 14 kills and 11 digs and a team-high 1.5 blocks. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) also had a double-double with 36 assists and 12 digs. Sophomore, Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 16 digs and a career-high 5 service aces. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) added 4 service aces and 8 kills on a .533 hitting percentage. Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) each added 6 kills on the night.

Walsh travels to Madonna University for the Crusader Classic this weekend. The Cavaliers face NAIA #20 Taylor University at 3pm on Friday and Indiana Wesleyan at 5pm. On Saturday, the Cavs open up with host, #18 Madonna University, at 9:30am and finish the weekend against UM-Dearborn at 11:30am.

"Cavs Second in AMC; Host Conference Match, then Head to Michigan"

Walsh (22-2, 6-1) stands second in the American Mideast Conference with five conference matches left. This Tuesday, the Cavs host Ursuline College (8-21, 1-6) in an AMC match, before heading to Michigan for the Crusader Classic at Madonna University over the weekend. The Cavs meet Taylor University (3 pm) and Indiana Wesleyan University (5 pm) on Friday and Madonna (9:30 am) and University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday (11:30 am).

Walsh won a pair of AMC matches at home this week over Malone University and Houghton College. The Cavs defeated Malone University on Wednesday night by the scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22. They were led by Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic), who posted her tenth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 13 digs. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led with 55 assists, while adding 15 digs and two kills. Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) pounded 12 kills and a team-high 3.5 blocks, while Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) had a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs. Libero Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) led the Cavs in digs with 28 and had a team-high two service aces. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) hit .429 with eight kills and 18 digs.

Walsh swept Houghton College on Friday night by the scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-8. Hannah Duran led with 28 assists, while adding 11 digs. Natalie Phillips had a double-double with 10 kills, with a .471 hitting percentage. She also added 11 digs. Brittany Morris hit a career-high .700 with eight kills and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) had a team-high 1.5 blocks and three service aces. Kristen Rohlfs added 10 digs.

Brittany Morris is second in the AMC in attack percentage (.405). Julianne O'Donnell is fifth in kills per game (3.7) and Hannah Duran is tied for first in the AMC in assists with 11.4 per game.

"Walsh Sweeps Houghton"

Walsh (22-2, 6-1 AMC) swept Houghton College tonight. Scores were 25-13, 25-14, 25-8. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led with 28 assists and added 11 digs. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) had a double-double with 10 kills on a .471 hitting percentage and 11 digs. Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) hit a career-high .700 with 8 kills and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) had a team-high 1.5 blocks and 3 service aces. Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) added 10 digs.

Walsh is idle until Tuesday, October 20, when they host AMC opponent, Ursuline College. Match time is 7pm.

"McCarthy Makes Commitment to Walsh"

Megan McCarthy has made a verbal commitment to continue her athletic and academic career at Walsh University in the fall of 2010. McCarthy is a 6-0 middleblocker from Cloverleaf High School.

Megan will sign a NAIA National Letter of Intent in the near future.

"Walsh Beats Rio Grande in Four"

Walsh (20-2, 4-1 AMC) defeated the University of Rio Grande today in four sets. Set scores were 25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) had 45 assists and also added 11 digs. The offense was spread out, as Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic), Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State), and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) were all in double-digit kills with 16, 12, and 12, respectively. Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) led the team in digs with 18 and Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) chipped in 15. "Bears Stop Cavs Win Streak"

Walsh (19-2, 4-1 AMC) lost to Shawnee State tonight in four sets. Set scores were 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 16-25. The Cavs were led by Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) with 42 assists and she also added 13 digs in the loss. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) and Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) were both in double-digit kills with 16 and 14 respectively. Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) led with 23 digs and Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) chipped in 12 digs.

Walsh travels to Rio Grande tomorrow for a non-conference matchup against the Storm at 11am.

"O'Donnell Earns AMC Player of the Week"

Freshman Julianne O'Donnell (pictured above) has been named the AMC Player of the Week for matches played on Sept. 28 through Oct. 4.

O'Donnell, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Willowick, Ohio, guided the Cavaliers to a 5-0 week and was named MVP of the Mount Vernon Nazarene Invitational. She averaged 3.89 kills and 3.06 digs per set while posting a .324 attack percentage.

In 18 sets played, O'Donnell hammered 70 kills with 55 digs, six blocks, four service aces, and an assist. Her top effort was 26 kills and 18 digs in a five-set victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene. All four wins in the MVNU Invite came against teams with winning records.

O'Donnell and the Cavaliers travel to Shawnee State for an AMC battle on Friday, October 9 at 6pm. Shawnee and Walsh are both undefeated in conference play.

"Cavs Remain Undefeated in Conference; Extend Win Streak to 15"

Walsh (19-1, 4-0 AMC) swept Point Park tonight (25-21, 25-15, 25-23) to remain unbeaten in the AMC. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led the offense with 39 assists aned also added 10 digs. Middleblockers, Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua), pounded 13 and 10 kills respectively. AMC Player of the Week, Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic), added 12 kills. Libero Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 17 digs. Megan Kelly (5-10, Jr., Brook Park, OH/Holy Name) had a season-high 12 digs and also added 7 kills on a .350 hitting percentage. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) was also in double digit digs with 11. Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) had a career-high 3.5 blocks.

The Cavaliers travel to Shawnee State this Friday for an AMC matchup at 6pm. The Bears are 3-0 in conference and won the AMC Conference tournament in 2008 to earn the second bid to the NAIA Opening Round of the National Tournament.

Cavs Extend Win Streak to 14/Remain Unbeaten in AMC

Walsh (18-1, 3-0) ran its impressive win streak to 14, with five more victories last week. The Cavs swept Carlow College in an American Mideast Conference match on Tuesday, and then won the Papa John's Invitational at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Friday and Saturday. This week the Cavs host Point Park University (16-5, 2-2) in an AMC contest on Tuesday, then travel to Shawnee State for an conference battle on Friday and then to the University of Rio Grande for an non-conference match on Saturday.

Walsh won its tenth straight match with a three-game sweep at Carlow College (25-16, 25-13 and 25-15). Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led with 35 assists and also added seven digs. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt/Kent State) and Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) each had nine kills and Megan Kelly (5-10, Jr., Brook Park, OH/Holy Name) and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) added eight kills each. Senior Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) led with 11 digs and O'Donnell added 10. Walsh hit .460 on the night and also had five service aces and five total blocks.

Walsh swept AMC foe Roberts Wesleyan in their opening match at Mt. Vernon by the scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-13. Hannah Duran led with 26 assists and Natalie Borland had a team-high nine kills. Sophomore Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had 14 digs and Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH) served three aces. In the second match of the night, Walsh battled against Mount Vernon and defeated the Cougars in five sets (16-25, 25-19, 15-25, 27-25, 15-12) in an non-conference match. O'Donnell had a career-high 26 kills, 18 digs, and two service aces. Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) and Duran each added 20 digs. Rohlfs led with 30 digs and Duran led the offense with 53 assists.

Walsh won their final two matches to capture the Mount Vernon Invitational Title. Walsh first defeated Bryan College in four games (23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-21). Hannah Duran led with 52 assists and also added 17 digs. Julianne O'Donnell had 17 kills and nine digs, Jenna Golic added 13 kills and Brittany Morris contributed 11 kills and three blocks. Libero Kristen Rohlfs had a team-high 37 digs. Natalie Phillips also added 20 digs and Amy Police (5-5, Sr., Perry, OH/HS) had a team-high three service aces and 11 digs. In the second match, Walsh swept Bethel College (25-19, 25-19, 25-14). Duran had 41 assists and 11 digs and O'Donnell led with 14 kills. Morris had a career-high 13 kills and also added one block. Rohlfs led the defense with 19 digs, along with Police and Phillips with 12 digs each.

Jenna Golic and Brittany Morris were selected to the all-tournament team and Julianne O'Donnell was named tournament MVP. The trio combined for 133 kills and 86 digs.

Brittany Morris is second in the AMC in attack percentage (.399) and Natalie Borland is fifth (.353). Julianne O'Donnell is fourth in kills per game (3.7) and Hannah Duran leads the AMC in assists at 11.4 per game.

Walsh (18-1, 3-0 AMC) won two more matches today to capture the Mount Vernon Invitational Title. Walsh defeated Byran in four games (23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-21). Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led with 52 assists and also added 17 digs. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) had 17 kills and 9 digs, Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) added 13 kills and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) contributed 11 kills and 3 blocks. "Cavs Sweep Roberts Wesleyan; O'Donnell Leads Walsh Past Mount Vernon"

Walsh (16-1, 3-0 AMC) swept Roberts Wesleyan in their opening match today by the scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-13. Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led with 26 assists and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) had a team-high 9 kills. Sophomore Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had 14 digs and Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH) served three aces. The win took the Cavs to 3-0 in the conference.

In the second match of the night, Walsh battled against Mount Vernon and defeated the Cougars in five sets (16-25, 25-19, 15-25, 27-25, 15-12). Walsh improved to 13-1 on the season and to 1-0 in the American Mideast Conference, after defeating Notre Dame College at home last Tuesday night.The win was the ninth straight for the Cavs.This week, the Cavs travel to Carlow College for an AMC contest on Tuesday and compete in the Papa John's Invitational at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Friday and Saturday.The Cavs tangle with Roberts Wesleyan at 6 pm and the host Cougars at 8 pm.On Saturday, the Cavs meet Bryan College at noon and Bethel College at 2 pm.

The Cavs ousted Notre Dame College by the scores of 25-17, 30-28, 22-25, 25-21.Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) led the offense with 50 assists and nine digs. Cavs Extend Win Streak to Eight/Win AMC Opener/Capture Comfort Inn Invitational

Walsh improved to 12-1 on the season, and extended their current win streak to eight, after downing cross town rival Malone University, and by winning the Walsh/Malone Comfort Inn Invitational. This week, the Cavs open defense of their American Mideast Conference title at home against Notre Dame College (9-7, 1-0) at home on Tuesday.

Walsh pulled out a four-game match win at Malone by the scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 28-26. Walsh was led by Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) with 38 assists and Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) with 15 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore libero Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a career-high 36 digs and added three service aces. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) added 18 digs and 5 kills. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) contributed 10 kills and 2.5 blocks and Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) had a career-high 19 digs.

Walsh opened the Comfort Inn Invitational with two more wins on Friday. The Cavs swept Saint Xavier by the scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-18. Walsh was led by freshman setter, Hannah Duran with 33 assists and 10 digs. Julianne O'Donnell had a team-high 11 kills, 6 service aces and 1 block. Kristen Rohlfs had 15 digs and Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) added 14 digs and 3 service aces. Natalie Phillips also added 10 digs. In the second match, Walsh defeated Ohio Dominican 25-15, 25-19, 25-22. Duran had 39 assists and Rohlfs had a team-high 23 digs. Natalie Borland pounded 10 kills and had 1.5 blocks. Golic led with three aces and also added 13 digs. O'Donnell contributed eight kills and 16 digs and freshman middleblocker, Brittany Morris(5 -11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) added nine kills.

Walsh closed out the weekend with two more wins on Saturday. The Cavs defeated Spring Arbor 25-17, 23-25, 31-29, 25-22. They were led by Hannah Duran's 59 assists and 20 digs. Walsh spread out the offense with Natalie Borland leading the way with 17. Walsh spread out the offense with Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) leading the way with 17. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) and Megan Kelly (5-10, Jr., Brook Park, OH/Holy Name) both added 13 kills and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) contributed 11. Walsh (10-1) won two matches tonight at their home tournament. The Cavs swept Saint Xavier by the scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-18. Walsh was led by freshman setter, Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) with 33 assists and 10 digs. Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) had a team-high 11 kills, 6 service aces and 1 block. Kristen Rohlfs (5-8, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had 15 digs and Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) added 14 digs and 3 service aces. "Cavs Win Hiram Invitational/Borland and O'Donnell Named to All-Tournament Team"

NAIA No. 21 Walsh improved to 7-1 on the season after winning the Hiram College Invitational last weekend. This week, the Cavs play rival Malone University in a non-conference match on Tuesday (7 pm) at Malone's Osborne Hall. On Friday and Saturday, in conjunction with Malone, the two schools host the Canton Comfort Inn Classic benefitting the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. Tickets are $8.00 dollars for both days, and $5.00 for one day. Fans who bring two canned food items receive $1.00 dollar off the original ticket price. There will be three matches at Malone and Walsh each day.

Walsh swept Marietta College in their first match at the Hiram Invitational (25-20, 25-22, 25-12) on Friday. The Cavaliers were led by Hannah Duran's (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) 37 assists. Freshman outside, Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic), had her fifth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 16 digs, while also adding two service aces. Kristen Rohlfs (5-7, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 19 digs. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) added 10 kills and a team-high 5.5 blocks. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) also had two service aces and 11 digs.

Walsh then completed the tournament sweep by winning twice on Saturday. In the first match, the Cavs swept the University of Rochester by the scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-23. Walsh was led by Duran's 35 assists and Borland's 10 kills and 3.5 blocks. Rohlfs had a team-high 19 digs, while Jenna Golic (5-10, Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) added 16 digs and six kills. "Cavs Sweep Marietta"

Walsh (5-1) swept Marietta College tonight at the Hiram Invitational (25-20, 25-22, 25-12). The Cavaliers were led by Hannah Duran (5-9, Fr., Grafton, OH/Midview) with 37 assists. Freshman outside, Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) had her fifth double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs and also added two service aces. Kristen Rohlfs (5-7, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 19 digs. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS/Kent State) added 10 kills and a team-high 5.5 blocks. Natalie Phillips (5-10, So., Wooster, OH/HS) also had two service aces and 11 digs.

Walsh is back on the court tomorrow when they face University of Rochester at 2pm and host, Hiram College, at 6pm.

"Walsh Splits the Second Day in Chicago"

(Chicago, IL) NAIA No. 21 Walsh (4-1) split the two matches played at the second day of the SXU/IIT Crossover. Walsh started quickly sweeping IIT in the first match of the day with scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-23. The middle hitters lead the offense with Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) both contributing 10 kills and a block. The defense was lead by Julianne O'Donnell's (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) 14 digs and Kristen Rohlfs (5-7, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) with 12.

The second match was the toughest match of the year with Walsh losing in 5 games (25-16, 18-25, 25-27, 25-19, 13-15) to Trinity International University. Hannah Duran (5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) lead the team with 46 assists and 21 digs. Sophomore, Marie Jubak (5-8, So., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) and Rohlfs each added 18 digs, while O'Donnell had a team-high 18 kills. Megan Kelly (5-10, Jr., Brook Park, OH/Holy Name) added 12 kills and Borland had 11 and 2.5 blocks. Rohlfs had a team-high three service aces.

Walsh heads to Hiram College on Friday and Saturday for matches against NCAA DIII Marietta, Hiram, and Rochester.

"Walsh Adds Two Wins in Chicago"

(Chicago, IL) NAIA No. 21 Walsh (3-0) added two more wins today at the SXU/IIT Crossover. Walsh swept William Penn (3-2) by the scores 25-17, 25-8, 25-23. The Cavs were led by Julianne O'Donnell's (5-10, Fr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs. Freshman setter, Hannah Duran (5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) led with 30 assists and two aces. Kristen Rohlfs (5-7, So., Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 14 digs. Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/HS) added two blocks and eight kills.

Walsh defeated UM-Dearborn by the scores of 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-26. Duran led with 36 assists and Rohlfs added 18 digs. O'Donnell had her third double-double in a row with 19 kills and 16 digs. Borland and Duran each had one ace and Brittany Morris (5-11, Fr., North Royalton, OH/Padua) had a team-high three blocks.

Walsh is back in action tomorrow against Illinois Tech at 11am (est) and Trinity International at 1pm.

"Walsh Opens Season with Sweep of Thiel"

(Berea, OH) NAIA No. 21 Walsh (1-0) opened the season with a three-game sweep of Thiel College at Baldwin-Wallace College tonight. The Cavs won by the scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-11. The Cavs are in Chicago, Illinois this weekend for the SXU/ITT Crossover Tournament.

Freshman Julianne O'Donnell (5-10, Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) paced the Cavs with 13 kills, 12 digs and three aces. Freshman setter Hannah Duran (5-9, Grafton, OH/Midview) handed out 32 assists. Megan Kelly (5-10, Jr., Brook Park, OH/Holy Name) added nine kills, Kristen Rohlfs (5-7, So., Loveland, OHMount Notre Dame) added 10 digs and Natalie Borland (6-0, Sr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) had four aces and two blocks.

"Cavaliers Preseaon Ranked First in AMC; Ranked 21 Nationally"

Walsh has been preseason ranked first in the American Mideast Conference for the 2009 season. The Cavaliers also come in No. 21 in the nation in the preseason poll of the NAIA (http://naia.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/081809aan.html).

Walsh won the AMC Championship last season and finished with a final NAIA national ranking of No. 21. The Cavs made their first appearance at the NAIA National Tournament under the direction of head coach, Krista Burrows.

Fellow AMC contenders, Shawnee State, Mount Vernon Nazarene, and Cedarville all received votes in the 2009 Preseason National Poll.

The Cavaliers open up the 2009 season against Thiel College at Baldwin-Wallace College on September 1 at 7pm.
