"Mudd 8th in Race Walk"

Maria Mudd (Sr., Suffield,OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished eighth in the race walk (16:39) at the 29th annual NAIA Track and Field Championships, being held at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill.

"Cavs Send Seven to NAIA Nationals"

Veteran Head Coach Al Campbell will send seven student-athletes to the 29th Annual Women's Track and Field Championships, being held at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill., May 21-23.

Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) and Maria Mudd (Sr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) are each making a return trip to the championships. Cofojohn will compete in the shot and discus, while Mudd will compete in the 3000m race walk. Cofojohn placed 22nd in the discus, and Mudd 12th in the race walk last year. This is the third trip to Nationals for Cofojohn and the fourth for Mudd. Both were automatic qualifiers.

Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) will compete in the 3000m steeplechase, with Kristen LeFever (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington), Kristen Havens (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Erin Koppel (Sr., McDonald, OH/HS) and Megan Case (Louisville, OH/HS) running in the 4x800m relay. LeFever will also run in the marathon.

"Cavs 6th at Oberlin/Heck Wins Pole Vault, Paul 400m Hurdles"

Walsh (25-7) finished 6th at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Oberlin College today, with Emma Heck (So., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) and Katelyn Paul (Jr., Garrettsviile, OH/Garfield) capturing first place finishes. Tiffin University won the meet.

Heck finished first in the pole vault (10-00.0) and Paul in the 400m hurdles (1:08.46). Abbie Sullivan (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was and Jackie Delamater (So., Uniontown, OH/North Canton) each grabbed second place finishes. Sullivan inte 400m hurdles (1:09.75) and Delamater in the 3000m steeplechase (13:12.93).

"Cavs 4th at AMC Meet/Mudd AMC Champ/DiNinno Sets Mark in 3000 SC"

Walsh (21-2) finished 3rd (92.33) at the American Mideast Confernce championships, held Friday and Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan College. Malone University finished first (246) and Cedarville University placed second (202.33).

Maria Mudd (Sr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished first in the 3000 race walk (16:55.62) to earn American Mideast Conference honors. Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) finished second in the 10,000m run (38:44.39) and 3,000m steeplechase (11:20.74), while setting a Walsh record in the event. In each race, DiNinno finished second to the NAIA National Champion.

Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) finished second in the shot put (42.4) and third in the discus (135-03). Natalie Borland (So., Kent Roosevelt, OH/HS) tied for second in the high jump (4-11.75) and the Cavs 4x800m relay team of Kristen LeFever (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington), Kristen Havens (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Erin Koppel (Sr., McDonald, OH/HS) and Megan Case (Louisville, OH/HS) finished fifth in a time of 9:43.65.

"Cavs Edge Malone to Win Walsh Invitational"

Walsh (200) defeated Malone (181) by 19 points to win the Walsh Invitational Track and Field Meet today. Cuyahoga Community College finished third (125) and Macomb Community College fourth (45).

Five Cavaliers came away with first place finishes. Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) won the discus (139-07) and the shot put (43-11.75). Her toss in the shot is a new Walsh record and a national qualifying mark. Natalie Borland (So., Kent Roosevelt, OH/HS) won the high jump (5-0.25), Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS) the long jump (16-08.25) and Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) the 100m hurdles (17.16).

"DiNinno Wins Steeplechase, Cofojohn Wins Discus and Mudd Sets Mark in 3000m Race Walk at Malone"

Walsh turned in an outstanding performance at the non-scoring Jack Hazen Open at Malone University today. The Cavs will host the Walsh Invitational next Saturday.

Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) won the 3000m steeplechase (11:46.15) and Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) the discus (41.85m). Cofojohn met provisional qualifying standards with the toss. She also grabbed a second place finish in the shot put (12.54m). Maria Mudd (Sr., Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished third in the 3000m race walk, but shattered her Walsh record (17:00) in a time of 16:51.78.

Emma Heck (So., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) finished second in the pole vault (9-00.00). Walsh's 4x800m relay team of Kristen LeFever (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington), Kristen Havens (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Erin Koppel (Sr., McDonald, OH/HS) and Megan Case (Louisville, OH/HS) finished second in a time of 10:21.71. Abbie Sullivan (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) finished third in the 100m hurdles (17.11), Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS) was third in the 200m dash (28.58) and Katelyn Paul (Jr., Garrettsviile, OH/Garfield) was third in the 400m hurdles (1:10.98).

"Cavs Win at Wooster/Cofojohn Double Winner"

For the second straight week, the Cavs won a big meet, winning the nine-team College of Wooster Invitational today. The Cavs finished with 135 points, 11 more than second place Ursuline College (124). The College of Wooster finished third.

Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) was a double winner for the Cavs, winning the discus (134-09) and the shot put (40-11.75). Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) placed second in the 400m hurdles (1:09.66) and third in the 100m hurdles (16.42). Natalie Borland (So., Kent Roosevelt, OH/HS) tied for second in the high jump (4-11.75) and was third in discus (34.82). Walsh's 4x100m relay team, comprised of Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS), Allie Simmons (Fr., Toledo, OH/Central Catholic), Jessica Swihart (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Elizabeth Emmanuel (Fr., Hubbard, OH/Ursuline) finished second in a time of 52.38. Abbie Sullivan (Sr., Canton, OH/GlenOak), Chantelle Richards (So., Akron, OH/East), Erin Koppel (Sr., McDonald, OH/HS) and Denise Sahli (Jr., East Canton, OH/HS) placed third in the 4x400m relay (4:21.11). Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) finished second in the 5000m run (18:45.31), with Kristen LeFever (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) third (19:44.15).

"Cavs Dominate Muskingum Invitational, DiNinno Sets Mark"

Walsh captured eight first-place finishes in dominating the eight-team Muskingum Invitational on Saturday. The Cavs finished with 251 points, with second place Ursuline College totaling 113. The Cavs are at the College of Wooster next Saturday.

Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) set a school mark in the 3000m steeplechase is a provisional qualifier for nationals. Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) just missed qualifying in the shot put by one-half inch.

"DiNinno, Cofojohn Fail to Make Finals"

Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) and Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) performed well, but failed to reach the finals at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships in Johnson City, TN. DiNinno was 11th (10:54.91) in the 3000m and Cofojohn placed sixth in her flight in the shot put (12.54).

"Cavs Have Good Weekend"

Coach Al Campbell received some fine individual performances this weekend. On Friday, the Cavs distance medley relay team set a new school record at Capital University. Megan Case (So., Louisville, OHI/HS), Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic), Kristen Havens (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS) and Erin Koppel (Sr., McDonald, OH/HS) won in a time of 13:09.51.

On Saturday, the Cavs traveled to Kent, for the KSU Tune-Up. DiNinno placed third in the 3000m (10:35.87), Natalie Borland Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) was fifth in the high jump (5'11"), Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) placed eighth in the 300m hurdles (49.81) and Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS) finished ninth in the 300m (45.33).

Walsh performed well at a non-scoring meet held at Kenyon College. The Cavs came away with four 1st place finishes and numerous second place finishes.

Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) came away with a win in the mile (5:26.37) for the second consecutive week. She also took 1st at the Oberlin College Crimson and Gold Classic last week. Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) came away with a 1st place finish in the shot put (40-08.25). The Cavs 4x200m relay team, comprised of Allie Simmons (Fr., Toledo, OH/Central Catholic), Elizabeth Emanuel (Fr., Hubbard, OH/Ursuline), Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS) and Lauren Ignazio (Fr., Austintown, OH/Ursuline) won in a time of 1:57.05. The Cavs 4x400m relay team also took first, with Megan Case (So., Louisville, OHI/HS), Kristen Havens (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Ignazio and Lewis winning in a time of 4:25.35.

Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) took second place in the 55m hurdles (9.10), Erin Koppel (Sr., McDonald, OH/HS) in the 400m dash (1:05.14), Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in the pole vault (9-11.75), Ashley Lewis in the long jump (15-01.25) and Holly Gospodinsky (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS) in the shot put (37-00.25)

Megan Case also took third in the 800m run (2:37.72) and Natalie Borland (So., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) in the triple jump (30-05.50).

"Cavs Win Oberlin's Crimson and Gold Classic, DiNinno, Case Place First"

Walsh (14-1) captured the eight-team Crimson and Gold Classic, hosted by Oberlin College. Walsh totaled 144 points in the 17 scored events, with two first place finishes.

Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) set a new school record in mile. DiNinno finished first in a time of 5:23.03, and bested the previous mark of 5:34, held by Sara Piersante. Last week, DiNinno set a new standard in the 3,000 run. Megan Case (So., Louisville, OHI/HS) finished first in the 500m run in a time of 1:26.25.

Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) placed second in the shot put, with a provisional qualifying toss of 41.04.50, just shy of Walsh's school record throw of 41.07.

Emma Heck (So., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) finished second in the pole vault (10-02.00), Kristen LeFever (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) in the 800m (2:27.25), Allie Simmons (Fr., Toledo, OH/Central Catholic) in the long jump (14-07.75) and Chantelle Richards (So., Akron, OH/East) in the 500m (1:27.28).

"Cofojohn Wins Shot, Heck Pole Vault at Case Spartan Relays"

Walsh performed well at the Case Western Reserve University Spartan Relays today. The Cavs captured two first place finishes and four second place finishes. The Cavs travel to the University of Findlay next Friday and Saturday.

Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) won the shot put with a throw of 40-02.75 and Emma Heck (so., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) finished first in the pole vault (9-08.00).

Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS) finished second in the long jump (16-00.50), Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic) in the 3000m run (10:33.84), Natalie Borland (So., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) in the high jump (4-44.75) and Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) in the 55m hurdles (9.21). DiNinno's finish shattered a school record held by Wall of Famer Wendi Schrock and was a provisional qualifying time for nationals.

"Cavs Shine with 2nd Place Finish at Marietta Open"

Walsh (7-1) finished second at the nine-team Marietta College Open today. The Cavs finished with 183.50 points, just behind Marietta, who finished with 185 points to win the meet. The Cavs captured four first place finishes and three second place finishes.

Danielle Cofojohn (Jr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) and Holly Gospodinsky (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS) finished one-two in the shot put. Cofojohn won with a toss of 39-05.00, while Gospodinsky's throw of 37-05.25 was second.

Jackie Misiak (Sr., North Royalton, OH/HS) won the 55m hurdles, with a time of 9.40. Walsh's distance medley relay team, comprised of Megan Case (So., Louisville, OH/HS), Andrea DiNinno (Sr., Greensburg, PA/Central Catholic), Kristen Havens (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS) and Kristen LeFever (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) won in a time of 13:33.55.

Sara Stone (So., Uniontown, OH/North Canton Hoover) finished second in the weight throw, with a toss of 39-09.25. Walsh's 4x200 meter relay team also garnered a second place finish. Ashley Lewis (So., Louisville, OH/HS), Elizabeth Emanuel (Fr., Hubbard, OH/Ursuline), Denise Sahli (Jr., East Canton, OH/HS) and Allie Simmons (Fr., Toledo, OH/Central Catholic) finished second in a time of 1:56.05.
