"St. George Signs NAIA National Letter of Intent for the Cavs"

Allison St. George has signed a NAIA National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic and academic career at Walsh University in the fall of 2009. St. George is a four year letter winner from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio. Allison earned First Team All-Conference, was the sectional champion, district qualifier, and state qualifier (doubles) her senior year. During her junior campaign, she went 15-0, was a district qualifier, and a state qualifier in doubles.

Allison is the daughter of James and Ann St. George and plans to major in nursing while attending Walsh.

"Ianni Over 100 Career Wins"

Walsh University senior Jenamarie Ianni (North Canton, OH/Hoover) finished her stellar career at Walsh with 102 career wins in singles and doubles play. Ianni was a four-time All-AMC selection.

"Ianni, Rossi, Yost Named to All-AMC Team"

Walsh placed three players on the All-American Mideast Conference Team. Jenamarie Ianni (Sr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) was selected to the singles and doubles team, with Alison Rossi (Fr., Warren, OH/JFK) being named to the doubles team and Jen Yost (Jr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) to the singles team.

Ianni played number one singles for the Cavs and recorded a 16-5 mark. She also played number one doubles and sported an 12-8 mark. She teamed with Alison Rossi to record a 11-7 mark. Ianni earned All-AMC honors all four years at Walsh. After starting the season at fifth singles, Yost moved into the second singles spot and finished with a record of 11-9.

"Walsh Loses 5-4 to Ohio Dominican in AMC Championship Match"

(Springfield, OH) In a match that lasted three-plus hours; Ohio Dominican University (15-6) edged Walsh University (12-9) 5-4 to win the American Mideast Conference Tournament Championship and earn the automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships.

Ohio Dominican also defeated Walsh in the championship match last year.

"Cavs Advance to AMC Title Match"

Walsh (12-8) defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio (7-8) 5-0 to advance to the finals of the American Mideast Conference Tournament today at the Springfield Racquet Club in Springfield, Ohio. The Cavs will play Ohio Dominican University (14-6) at 1 pm tomorrow, in a rematch of last year's championship match, won by the Panthers. Ohio Dominican beat Cedarville University (6-9) 5-0 in the other semifinal match and bested the Cavs 7-2 in the regular season. The AMC Champion receives an automatic berth to the 29th Annual NAIA Championships, May 12-16 at the Mobile (AL) Tennis Center.

"Cavs Number Two Seed for AMC Tournament/Face Northwestern Ohio on Thursday"

Walsh (11-8, 6-1) is the number two seed for the upcoming American Mideast Conference Tournament, which begins on Thursday at Cedarville University. The Cavs meet third seeded University of Northwestern Ohio (7-7, 4-3) on Thursday at 1pm. Walsh beat the Races 9-0 in the regular season. The other semifinal match features top-seeded Ohio Dominican University (11-5, 7-0) against fourth seeded Cedarville University (6-8, 4-3) at 1 pm on Thursday, with the winners meeting on Friday for the AMC Championship. The AMC Champion receives an automatic berth to the 29th Annual NAIA Championships, May 12-16 at the Mobile (AL) Tennis Center.

The Cavs have made five trips to nationals in the last six years. They were defeated by Ohio Dominican University in the AMC title match last year.

"Cavs 3-5 on Season, Open AMC Play at Roberts Wesleyan"

Walsh stands 3-5 on the season, after dropping two out of three matches last week. The lone win came at home over Muskingum College (9-0). The Cavs open American Mideast Conference action on Monday at Roberts Wesleyan College and play at Wittenberg University on Friday.

Number one singles player, Jenamarie Ianni (Sr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) has fared well against tough competition and stands 4-4 on the season. Hilary Rossi (Jr., Warren, OH/JFK) is 5-3 and has played all through the line-up. Jen Yost (Jr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) is 4-4, and has also played throughout the line-up. Yost has teamed with Madeline Lewis (Jr., Westerville, OH/St. Francis DeSales) to form the Cavs most consistent doubles combination. They stand 6-1 playing third singles.

"Cavs Travel to Orlando for Win Over Mayaguez University of Puerto Rico"

Walsh (1-2) notched their first win of the season in a tight 5-4 victory over Mayaguez University of Puerto Rico. The Cavs traveled to Orlando, Florida for spring break competition, and will take on St. Mary's for their second match of the trip.

"Mercyhurst Edges Cavs 5-4"

Walsh (0-2) was edged 5-4 at Mercyhurst College (5-2) today. The Cavs notched two wins in doubles play and two in singles competition. Barbara Lewis (Fr., Westerville, OH/St. Frances DeSales) won 6-1, 6-3 at fourth singles and Madeline Lewis (Jr., Westerville, OH/St. Frances DeSales) won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles. The Cavs' number one doubles team of Jenamarie Ianni (Sr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Alison Rossi (Fr., Warren, OH/JFK) won 8-5, while Madeline Lewis and Julia Kole (So., Mississauga, ONT/St. Aloysius) won 9-8 (13-0) at third doubles.
