"Bennett 10th in High Jump, Cofonjohn 19th in Disc"

(Marian, IN) Walsh fared well today at the 30th annual NAIA National Track and Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) finished 10th in the high jump (5-05.00) and Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) reached the finals and finished 19th in the discus (134-03).

"Cofojohn 13th in Shot"

(Marian, IN) Walsh's Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) finished 13th in the shot put (44-06.25) at the 30th annual NAIA National Track and Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. She will compete in the discus tomorrow and Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) will compete in the high jump.

"Foster 8th in Pole Vault at Nationals"

(Marian, IN) Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) tied for eighth place in the pole vault (11-09.00) and reached teh at the 30th annual NAIA National Track and Field Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.

The Cavs 4x800m relay team of Megan Case (Jr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Triner (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Katie Laughlin (So., Malvern, OH/Canton South) and Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) failed to reach the finals, finishing seventh (9:46.16) in the first heat of the prelims.

Walsh will have Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) competing in the shot put and discus on Friday, along with Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) in the high jump.

"Walsh Women to Send Lucky Seven to NAIA Track Nationals"

The Walsh University Women's Track Team will send seven individuals to compete in five events at the 30th annual NAIA National Track and Field Championships, May 27-29 in Marian, Indiana.

American Mideast Conference champion Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) makes her fourth trip to the championships. Cofojohn won both the shot put (42-06.75) and discus (139-04) at the AMC Championships held at Walsh. She also set a Walsh record in the shot put with a record toss of 45-10.5.

Freshman Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) earned first-team All-AMC honors by winning the high jump (5-01.75) at the conference meet. Bennett set a new Walsh standard at 5-06.50. Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) will compete in the pole vault, she won the event in the AMC Championships (11-00.25) and has a season's best at 11-07.

The Cavs 4x800m relay team of Megan Case (Jr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Triner (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Katie Laughlin (So., Malvern, OH/Canton South) and Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) will also compete. They had a season-best time of 9:43.44. Case and Havens each qualified in the event last year.

"Cavs Do Well at Weekend Events"

The Cavs placed well at Slippery Rock University on Friday and at the Campbell/Wright Open at the University of Akron on Saturday.

At Slippery Rock on Friday, Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS won in the 800m in a time 2:21.31 and the Cavs 4x400m relay team of Carley Adams (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Havens, Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) and Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS) won in a time of 4:15.75.

Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) took second in the pole vault (11'6") and Holly Gospodinsky (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) fifth in the shot put (37'4").

At the University of Akron's Lee R. Jackson Field on Saturday, Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) placed second in the high jump (5'5"), Sara Stone (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) second in the disucs (112'6") and Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) third in the shot put. (44'3.5").

"Cofojohn Wins Shot, Bennett Sets High Jump Mark"

Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) won the shot put and Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) LEFT set a Walsh record in the high jump at the University of Toledo Invitational. Cofojohn posted her second best career toss of 44-10.75, while Bennett set a new mark with a NAIA "A" qualifying mark of 5-6.05 in a second place finish.

The Cavs also received a second place (9:55.57) finish from the 4x800m relay team of Megan Case (Jr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Triner (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Katie Laughlin (So., Malvern, OH/Canton South) and Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS). The Cavs 4x400m relay team of Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS), Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge), Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) and Carley Adams (Fr.,Louisville, OH/HS) finished third (4:09.16).

Sara Stone (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) placed ninth in the discus (122-6.00).

"Cavs Solid Third at AMC Meet"

COMPLETE RESULTS

Walsh finished a solid third (139 pts) at the American Mideast Conference Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Cavaliers. Walsh finished fourth last year. Malone University repeated as AMC Champs, with Cedarville University finishing second.

Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) was the top performer today for the Cavs, finishing third in the 800m run (2:21.08).

"Cavs Lead After First Day of AMC Championships; Cofojohn Double Winner, Foster, Bennett Also AMC Champions"

DAY ONE RESULTS

Walsh leads the American Mideast Conference Track and Field Championships after the first day of competition. Walsh has 89 points and leads second place and defending champion Malone University by 13 points. Cedarville University is a distant third with 31 points. The championship meet resumes at Walsh on Saturday morning at 9:30.

Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) earns All-AMC honors after winning both the shot put (42-06.75) and discus (139-04). Cofojohn was second-team All-AMC in the shot last year.

Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) earned first-team All-AMC honors by winning the high jump (5-01.75) and Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) in the pole vault (11-00.25).

Natalie Borland (Sr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) finished second in the high jump (4-11.75). Michelle Green qualifed for the finals in the 100m dash (13.23), with the finals being at 1:05 tomorrow.

"Cavs Looking Forward to Hosting AMC Championship Meet"

Walsh will host the American Mideast Conference Track and Field Championships this Friday (3:30 pm) and Saturday (9:30 am). Field events start at 3:30 pm on Friday and running events at 4 pm. On Saturday, field events start at 9:30 am and running events at 10 am. View Meet Information. View Event Schedule/Times. The meet is free of charge to the public.

Walsh finished fourth last year. Malone University won the meet, dethroning defending champion Cedarville University.

"Bennett, Cofojohn Double Winners at Malone"

COMPLETE RESULTS

Amanda Bennett (Fr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) and Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) were double winners for the Cavs at the Jack Hazen Open held at Malone University today. Bennett posted wins in the long jump (4.85m) and the high jump (1.65m), while Cofojohn captured wins in the shot (13.23m) and discus (44.26m).

Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) finished first in the pole vault (3.43m), the Cavs 4x800m relay team of Megan Case (Jr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS), Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth,OH/HS) and Melissa Moziejko (Jr., Columbus, OH/Bishop Hartley) won in a time of 10:18.84 and the 4x100r relay team of Michelle Green (So., DeWitt, IA/Central Clinton), Martin, Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) and Allie Simmons (So., Toledo Central Catholic) won in a time of 51.04.

"Cavs Second at Wooster/Foster Qualifies for Nationals"

Walsh finished second at the College of Wooster Invitational today with 142.50 points. Ashland University won the event with 172.50 points. Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) qualified for nationals and set a new school record in the pole vault (11-07.00), finishing first.

Cara Bedard (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) won the javelin in her first meet of the season with a throw of 105-02 and Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS) grabbed the Cavs' other first place finish in the 400m dash (1:01.48).

The Cavs had numerous second place finishes; Emma Heck (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) in the pole vault (9-05.75), Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) in the long jump (15-04.25), Allie Simmons (So., Toledo, OH/Central Catholic) triple jump (30-02.25) and Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in the discus (129-07) and shot put (42-00.00).

"Cavs Have Multiple Winners at Muskingum/Adams Triple Winner"

(Concord, OH) Walsh had multiple winners at a dual meet with Muskingum College today.

Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) was a triple winner. Adams captured first place in the 400m (61.02), the 200m ( 27.87) and was a member of the 4x400m relay team (4:30.98).

The Cavs also produced four double winners. Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in the shot put, with an NAIA qualifying mark "B" 41'10.75" and in the discus 133'1". Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) won the 1500m (5:16.32) and the 800m (2:28.90). Michelle Green (So., DeWitt, IA/Central Clinton) won the 100m (13.53) and was a member of the 4x100m relay team (51.39) and Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) won the long jump (15'8.25") and was part of the 4x100m relay team (51.39).

Individual winners included Kim Swartz (So., Tiffin, OH/Tiffin Calvert) in the 2000m steeplechase (629.10), Katelyn Paul (Sr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) 400m hurdles (78.23), Natalie Borland (Sr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) high jump (5'0.25"), Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) pole vault (10'6"), Sara Stone (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) in the hammer (105') and Megan Case (Jr., Louisville, OH/HS) in the 3000m (11:48.16).

The Cavs 4x400 relay team of Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge), Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS), and Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) competed by also did not qualify for the finals.

"Cavs Set For Indoor National Meet"

On the women's side, Shot Put - Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in the shot put, Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) in the pole vault and the 4x400 relay team of Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge), Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS), and Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley).

"Cofojohn, Foster, Plus Relay Team Qualify for Nationals"

Walsh fared well, splitting squads between the Mount Union College Purple Raider Open and the Kent State Tune-Up yesterday.

At Kent State, Danielle Cofojohn finished fifth in the shot put 5th in 43-9.00, another "A' qualifying mark. She also shattered her won school record of 42-5.5.

Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi,OH/Cloverleaf) had another "B" standard and finished sixth at 10-10 in the pole vault.

The Cavs 4x400m relay team of Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge), Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS), Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) ran to a new school record and a "B" qualifying mark with a mark of 4:03.21. This shattered the previous record of 4:06.69.

The Cavs had several place at Mount Union, with Kristi Havens (Jr., Wadsworth,OH/HS) finishing second in the 1000m in a time of 3:15.36. The Cavs 4x200 relay team of Chelsea Megyes (Fr., Manchester, OH/HS), Ruth Giles (Fr., Manchester, OH/HS, Alyssa Akers (So., DeWitt, IA/Central Clinton), Michelle Green (So., DeWitt, IA/Central Clinton) grabbed a second place finish in a time of 1:54.43. Kim Swartz (So., Tiffin, OH/Calvert) finished third in the mile (5:53.53)

Natalie Borland (Sr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) placed fourth in the high jump (5-1), Holly Gospodinsky (Jr., Wadsworth,OH/HS) in the shot out and (36-3) and Mara Mysliwiec (Fr., Parma, OH/Padua) in the 400m (65.22).

"Track Does Well at Kenyon"

COMPLETE RESULTS

Walsh scored in every event, and notched six first place finishes at the Kenyon College Invitational on Friday night. The Cavs also set two school records.

Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi,OH/Cloverleaf) qualifed for nationals set a Walsh record in the pole vault (11'). She shattered Emma Heck's (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) mark of 10'6 in 2008. Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) set a new mark in the 500m, with a first place finish in a time of 1:20.78.

Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) won the shot, with a toss of 42'2.25, which meets "A" standard. Her earlier toss of 42'5.5 set a new Walsh record earlier in the season. Natalie Borland (Sr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) finished first in the high jump (5'0"). The Cavs 4x200m relay team of Chelsea Megyes (Fr., Manchester, OH/HS), Michelle Green (So., DeWitt, IA/Central Clinton), Ruth Giles (Fr., Sandusky, OH/HS) , Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) won in a time of 1:55.97 and the Cavs 4x400m relay team of Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge), Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS), Molly Martin (Fr., Canfield, OH/HS) and Swarny won in a time of 4:12.41.

"Cavs Do Well at Edinboro, Foster Wins Pole Vault"

COMPLETE RESULTS

Walsh performed well at the non-scoring Al Hall Freedom Games at Edinboro University (PA) today. Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) continued her outstanding freshman campaign with a first place finish in the pole vault (10-02.25). Foster also won last week at Case Western Reserve University.

Allie Simmons (So., Toledo Central Catholic) grabbed a second place finish in the long jump (4.95) and Carlie Ellison (Fr., Sandusky, OH/Perkins) scored first in the high jump (1.52). Simmons also earned a third place finish in the triple jump (9.30).

The Cavs 4x400m relay team of Carley Adams (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) Alyssa Akers (Fr., Twinsburg, OH/HS), Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) and Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) finished second in a time of 4:16.44. Swarny also finished third in the 200m (27.46) and Adams third in the 400m (1:02.13). Sara Stone (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) placed third in the weight throw (12.19) and Natalie Borland (Jr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) third in the high jump (1.52).

"INDOOR TRACK: Foster and Cofojohn Win Events in Spartan Relays"

COMPLETE RESULTS

Stephanie Foster's (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) and Danielle Cofojohn's (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) first place finishes led Walsh in the 2010 Spartan Relays hosted by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland this afternoon.

Foster finished in the top spot in the pole vault event with a height of 10-7.5 while Cofojohn out-threw her competition in the shot put with a distance of 42-05.5.

Lauren Ignazio (So., Austintown, OH/Ursuline), Allie Simmons (So., Toledo Central Catholic) and Catie Shears (So., Washington Court House) represented the Cavaliers well in the triple jump finishing second, third and fourth, respectively. Ignazio jumped a distance of 30-07.5, while Simmons jumped 29-08 and Shears leaped 29-05.25.

Sarah Martter (Fr., Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) finished fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.53, as well as the long jump with a distance of 15-04.75. She also participated on the fourth-place 4x400 meter relay team with Mara Mysliwiec (Fr., Parma, OH/Padua), Denise Sahli (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS) and Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) with a time of 4:26.79.

Other top performers for Walsh included Swarny finishing fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.84, Kristin Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) finishing fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:42.89, Natalie Borland (Jr., Kent, OH/Kent Roosevelt) finishing fourth in the high jump with a height of 4-09.75, Kendrajo Wilson's (Fr., Coshocton, OH/HS) fourth place finish in the pole vault with a distance of 8-08, and Sara Stone (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) finishing fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 40-00.75.

"INDOOR TRACK: Cavs Fourth at Marietta Open, Cofojohn, Martter, Havens Notch First Place Finishes"

COMPLETE RESULTS

Walsh's women finished fourth at the Marietta Open, hosted by Marietta College, in their first meet of the indoor track season. The Cavs finished fourth with 106 points, just 11 behind third place Concord College. Roanoke University placed first with 150 points.

Freshman Sarah Martter (Peninsula, OH/Woodbridge) finished first in the 500m dash (1:29.51) and fourth in the long jump (15-04.00). She was also part of Walsh's second place teams in the 4x200m and 4x400m relays. Kristen Havens (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) finished first in the 1000m (3:22.6) and Danielle Cofojohn (Sr., Diamond, OH/Southeast) in the shot (41-02.25).

Stephanie Foster (Fr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) placed second in the pole vault (10-00.00). Martter and teammates Denise Sahli (Sr., East Canton, OH/HS), Alysaa Akers (Fr., Twinsburg, OH/HS) and Allison Swarny (Fr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) earned a second place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:34.04). Joining Martter on the Cavs second place 4x200m team (1:56.76) were Swarny, Ruth Giles (Fr., Sandusky,OH/HS) and Elizabeth Emanuel (So., Hubbard, OH/Ursuline). Swarny also finished fourth in the 200m (28.15). Natalie Borland (Jr., Kent, OH/Roosevelt) finished third in the high jump (4-09.00) and Holly Gosdpodinsky (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) fourth in the shot (36-07.75).
