"Foster, Truax Selected Female/Male Athletes of the Year"
Stephanie Foster (Jr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) and Ben Truax (Sr., Mansfield, OH/St. Peters) have been selected as the 2011-12 Female and Male Athletes of the Year at Walsh University. The pair will be recognized on September 15 at halftime of the Walsh/Michigan Tech University football game at Fawcett Stadium at 12 pm.
Foster put together a fabulous season as one the premier pole vaulters in the state. She finished first at the following meets; Gator Invitational, University of Akron, American Mideast Conference Championships, Slippery Rock, Mount Union (twice), Wooster, Wheeling Jesuit, Stark County Championships, Edinboro and was earned a Silver Medal with a second place finish at the SPIRE Midwest Track and Field Open. She also shattered her own personal best at Akron (13’2”) and set a new stadium record at Wooster (13’0”).
Truax was named All-Ohio First-Team for the NCAA Division II category, first-team All-American Mideast Conference, All-OIC and AMC/OIC Player of the Year. Truax had a record-setting season that saw him score 20 goals and five assists, for 45 points, and became the school’s all-time leader with with 51 career goals and all-time points’ leader with 119. Ben started all 19 games and scored four game-winning goals. He was also selected to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team and the AMC Scholar-Athlete and All-Ohio Academic Teams.
