Founders' Day Celebration of Mass with Bishop George Murry

What's New, 2013-11-13

Join the Walsh University community in our celebration of our Founders, the Brothers of Christian Instruction, during Founders' Week 2013. All events are free of charge. In honor of the Brothers' legacy, Bishop George Murry of the Youngstown Diocese will celebrate mass at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel. A cake social will immediately follow.

Early mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 with a donut social immediately following in the chapel foyer. As a special celebration of Founders' Week a new art piece will be on display honoring the Brothers. The Art of Faith was created by Assistant Professor of Art and Studio Coordinator Diane Belfiglio who says of her piece "At Walsh University, our acts of faith enriches not only our own lives but also the lives of those around us. Acts of faith are both our mission and our way of life. This is the concept behind, The Art of Faith. It's an art project by, and for, the entire Walsh community."

Other events during Founders' Week:

All Week: Share the Warmth - Coat and Men's Clothing Collection

Campus Ministry will collect all sizes of coats and men's clothing November 17- 22. Collection bins will be located in the Campus Ministry Center in the lower level of the David Center, in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel, and Farrell Hall. Coats and other cold weather clothing will be donated to Mighty Wind Christian Outreach who assist with the homeless in Canton by provide necessities like food and clothing.

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013

Tony Melendez in Concert - Born without arms, Melendez taught himself to play the organ, harmonica and guitar. A composer of contemporary Christian tunes he has also written a best-selling autobiography ("A Gift of Hope"). Melendez has played in 40 countries, sang the national anthem at the World Series and performed for the Pope.

Celebrate with Chocolate - Take a quick break from class and dip a variety of fruits and other desserts into the Chocolate Fountain.

Hands that Serve- Come and make cards for the Residents at the House of Loreto. This event is sponsored by the Sisters of Loreto.
