3.11.14 MEN'S LACROSSE: Hudgens Named ECAC Rookie of the Week; Makowicki Makes Honor Roll
Men's Lacrosse, 2014-03-11
(CENTERVILLE, Mass.) – Two Cavaliers have earned ECAC weekly honors as Alex Hudgens (Fr., South Lyon, MI/HS) was named Rookie of the Week and Alex Makowicki (Fr., Staatsburg, NY/FDR) made the honor roll. Both were instrumental in Walsh’s exciting 13-12 season-opening conference win over Alderson-Broaddus on Wednesday, March 5.
Hudgens was the star of the day in the victory over the Battlers as he scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Bryan Crim (Fr., Reading, PA/Exeter) with 81 seconds left in the contest. It was his team-high fourth goal of the game. He also added a ground ball and a caused turnover.
Makowicki also proved pivotal in helping the Cavaliers control possession much of the game. He took all but one face off in the game and won 20-of-28. He also added five ground balls.
Walsh (2-0, 1-0) will return to the field to take on Wingate in a non-conference affair at home on Wednesday. It will be part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader and is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
