3.13.12 MEN'S BASKETBALL: Kinney, Sutton, and Burrell Named All-OIC

Ron Kinney (Sr., 6-7, Cleveland, OH/Rhodes/Charleston) leads a list of three Walsh players to be selected to the 2011-12 All-Ohio Independent Championship Men’s Basketball Team. Kinney was selected as a member of the first team. Also making the team were L.J. Sutton (Sr., 6-7, Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) on the second team and Rian Burrell (6-3, Zanesville, OH/HS) on the freshman team.

Kinney led the Cavaliers in scoring with 18.6 points per game and started in all 31 games. He hit 52.4 percent (221-of-442) of his shots and shot 44.7 (80-of-179) percent from beyond the arc. He was also the second-leading rebounder on the team with 168 boards on the year.

Sutton was one of four Cavaliers to average double-figures with 12.7 points per game. He has made 54.2 percent of all shots he has taken this season and led the team with 199 total rebounds. Sutton played in 30 games with 29 starts.

Burrell had a strong first year at Walsh and was second on the team in points scored (432) and field goals made (166). He averaged of 13.9 points per game. Burrell was second on the team in steals with 33 and assists with 78.
