3.15.12 SOFTBALL: Cavs Split at Mount Union

(Alliance, OH) Walsh (7-7) split a double header at the University of Mount Union today.  The Cavs took game one 4-3, but lost the nightcap 5-1.  The Cavs are back in action at home tomorrow, facing Salem International in a double header at 3 pm.

Kelsey Ford (Sr., Boardman, OH/HS) was the winning pitcher in game one, improving her record to 2-2.  Ford was also the hitting star for the Cavs driving in two runs.  Walsh scored two runs in the third inning and added one in the fourth and one in the fifth.  The Raiders scored three runs in the fifth to chase Ford.  Erin Ebert (Jr., Jeromesville, OH/Hillsdale) then came to pitch shutout ball the rest of the way to record her first save of the year.

Mount Union scored four runs in the fifth inning to snap a 1-1 tie in the nightcap, and then held on for a 5-1 win.  Chelsy Testa (So., Uniontown, OH/Lake) drove in the Cavs run with a double in the third.  Ebert started and took the loss and falls to 3-4.
