3.17.12 WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: Cavs Finish Second in Stark Co. Championships

Walsh finished second in the annual Stark County Championships with a total of 128 points. The hosting Cavaliers were in the middle of a close competition as they were six points shy of first place Mt. Union and 18 points better than rival Malone.
First place finishers for the Cavs included Stephanie Foster (Jr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) in the pole vault with a height of 11-00.75, Leah Beatty (Jr., Enon Valley, PA/Mohawk) in the hammer throw with a distance of 127-10, Allison Swarny (Jr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley ) in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.15, Carly Walters (So., Garfield Heights, OH/Trinity) in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.48, and the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:06.67.
Second place finishers included Melissa Overmann (Sr., Amherst, OH/Steele) in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.42, Molly Martin (Jr., Canfield, OH/HS) in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.79, Catie Shears (Sr., Washington Court House, OH/HS) in the triple jump with a distance of 32-02.25 and in the high jump with a height of 4-09, and Kristine Sokol (So., Akron, OH/Hoban) in the javelin with a distance of 107-00 for second place.
The Cavs will next compete at Wheeling Jesuit University in the Bill Van Horne Invitational Saturday, March 24.
