3.2.14 SOFTBALL: Cavs Sweep First Games in Sunshine State

(CLERMONT, Fla.) Walsh improved to 4-2 on the season, after sweeping a split double header from the University of the Sciences and Wheeling Jesuit University at the Dot Richardson Games at Hancock Field in Clermont, Florida. The Cavs have won their last three games. Walsh plays another split twin-bill tomorrow. The Cavs play Georgian Court University at 11 am, and Notre Dame College at 1 pm.

Casi Rohr (Jr., Massillon, OH/Perry/Toledo) shutout the University of the Sciences 8-0 in the opener. Rohr went the distance, allowing just two singles. She fanned 13, and did not walk a batter in improving to 2-1. Walsh scored in bunches, gettting two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, then tallying three in the sixth and one in the seventh. Chelsy Testa (Sr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) went 4-4 with two RBI. Sam Troxell (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/HS/Youngtown State University) was 2-5 with a double and Anna Anderson (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS) hit a two-run homer in the sixth.

Walsh scored two runs in the first against Wheeling in the second game, then added three more in in the fifth and four in sixth in winning 9-1. The run rule came into affect in the sixth inning. Marissa Bondoni (So., Alliance, OH/HS) went five innings to improve to 2-0. Troxella and Testa again supplied the punch offensively.  Troxell was 3-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI, while Testa was 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jordan Monnot (Fr., Louisville, OH/HS) was also 1-2 with two RBI.
