3.21.14 SOFTBALL: Cavs Drop GLIAC Opener in 10; Game Two Suspended
(NORTH CANTON, Ohio ) Saginaw Valley State University (9-3, 1-0) defeated Walsh (10-8, 0-1) 2-1 in ten innings in the first game of a scheduled GLIAC double header. The second game was suspended after four innings due to darkness with Saginaw leading 6-0. The game will resume n Saturday at 12 pm.
Saginaw Valley pushed across a run in the bottom on the tenth inning to defeat Walsh 2-1 in the marathon opener that lasted nearly three hours. Lindsay Hayward singled home a run in the fourth inning to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. Walsh sent the game into extra innings on Marissa Bondoni 's (So., Alliance, OH/HS) two out single in the seventh. Marcy Medina singled home the winning run in the tenth. Casi Rohr (Jr., Massillon, OH/Perry/Toledo) went the distance for the Cavs and was the tough luck loser, falling to 5-5.
The Cardinals put four runs on the board in the top of the second inning in game two off of Walsh starter Marissa Bondoni, and added two more runs in the third. The game was halted after four innings.
