3.22.13 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Laurel Wartluft to Leave Her Position at the end of Her Current Contract to Pursue Other Interests

(North Canton, OH) Walsh University head women’s basketball coach and assistant director of athletics, Laurel Wartluft, has informed the University of her intention to leave Walsh at the end of her current contract to pursue other interests. Wartluft coached the Cavs the past seven years, with a record of 113-98. This past year, the Cavs finished 8-18 overall and 5-17 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In 23 years as a head coach, Wartluft owns a career mark of 341-330.

Wartluft guided the Cavs to three winning seasons, which included an NAIA Final Four appearance in 2011 when they finished 30-5. In 2009-10, Walsh finished 24-10 and earned a berth in the NAIA National Championships.

“We would like to thank Laurel Wartluft for her dedication to our women’s basketball program,” exclaimed Dale Howard, Director of Athletics. ” We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

The search for her replacement is currently underway and is expected to be concluded in the very near future.
