3.23.14 MEN'S GOLF: Paxos Finishes Seventh At SVSU Spring Invite

(FLORENCE, Ky.) - The Walsh men’s golf team opened the spring season in the Saginaw Valley State University Spring Invitational and finished eighth in the two-day event. A total of 11 teams participated as Grand Valley finished in the top of the card with a score of 600. 

The Cavaliers finished with a score of 630 after they recorded a 314 yesterday and a 316 today. Nick Paxos (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak/Cleveland State) led the way for Walsh with a 149 after he shot a 74 and 75 in his two rounds. He was two strokes away from finishing in the top five as he finished seventh overall.

Brandon Shannon (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) tied for 16th individually with a total score of 153. He shot a 77 yesterday and a 76 today. Jeff Cockerham (Jr., Akron, OH/Ellet) was third for Walsh and carded a 163 with an 82 and 81. Nick Colangelo (Fr., Canton, OH/Akron) and Junior Miller (Canton, OH/Central Catholic) rounded out the squad with a 165 and 166, respectively.

Walsh will be off next weekend before a road trip to Batavia, Ohio to participate in the NCAA Regional 2 at Elks Run Golf Course. The event will take place on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6.
