3.30.14 BASEBALL: Lee Goes Deep Twice as Cavs Break Five-Game Skid

Baseball, 2014-03-30

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) Michael Lee (Sr., Barberton, OH/HS) hit a pair of two-run homers, as Walsh (10-15, 2-5) snapped a five-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 5-2 GLIAC win over Tiffin University (4-19, 3-3) today. The Cavs are back in action on Tuesday, when they host GLIAC foe Northwood University at 2 pm in a double header. The Cavs and Timberwolves then play a single game on Wednesday at noon.

Tiffin led 2-1, when Lee connected off of Kevin Kline in bottom of the fifth to put the Cavs ahead 3-2. He then went deep off of Kyle Montell in the seventh to give the Cavs some cushion and a 5-2 lead.

Walsh trailed 1-0 in the third when Drew Link (Sr., Granville, OH/HS) doubled down the left field line to tie the game at 1-1. Tiffin regained the lead in the fifth on a solo homer by Cole McCurry, setting the stage for Lee's heroics.

Walsh lefty Matt Iosue (Fr., Mayfield, OH/HS) went five innings to earn his first collegiate win.  Iosue fanned five and is now 1-4. Danny Roper (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) pitched three scoreless innings in relief, and Neal Edwards (Jr., Silver Lake, OH/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) worked the ninth inning for his second save of the year.

Lee also threw out two would be base stealers.
