3.31.12 SOFTBALL: Dodson Has Career Day in Two Wins at Fisher

(Lynn, Mass.) - Hanna Dodson (Fr., Newark, OH/Licking Valley) had a career day as she helped Walsh clobber Fisher in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Cavs (17-11, 3-1) won both game by a score of 29-0 in five innings over the winless Falcons (0-21, 0-6).

Dodson hit three home runs on the afternoon with two in the first game that included a grand slam. As if that wasn’t enough, she joined Rachel Corrigan (Fr., Pickerington, OH/North) in tossing a no-hitter in the second game. She went 3-for-5 in the opening game with eight RBI, three runs scored, and a triple short of the cycle. Dodson followed that up in the second game going 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Corrigan hit a two-RBI double in her only at-bat.

Other Cavaliers also had huge days. Kelsey Ford (Sr., Boardman, OH/HS) recorded a hit in all nine at-bats during the day and had a combined 10 RBI, including seven in the first game, and accounted for seven runs scored. She also pitched the first game and put together a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. Kaleigh Cupka (Fr., Streetsboro, OH/Walsh Jesuit) hit a grand slam in the second game and finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored.

Chelsy Testa (So., Uniontown, OH/Lake) recorded five hits in the first game with five runs scored and four RBI, and Dana Brown (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) added four hits for six RBI and three runs scored which included a bases-loaded triple in game two.

Walsh faces Fisher in two more games tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
