3.4.12 BASEBALL: Cavs' Starters Toss Back-to-Back Shutouts in Sweep

(Babson Park, FL) Behind the strength of back-to-back shutouts from starting pitchers David Roper (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) and Billy Gura (Sr., Sagamore Hills, OH/St. Peter Chanel), Walsh evened its record at 3-3 with 5-0 wins over Purdue-North Central and Siena Heights University.
Roper evened his record at 1-1 in tossing his second straight complete game against PNC. The right-hander allowed only three hits while fanning four. Tim Stinson (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) drove in three runs with two singles and Kyler King (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) doubled and drove in a run. Drew Link (So., Granville, OH/HS) continued his hot hitting with hits. He also walked twice.
Gura also evened his record at 1-1 with a six-hit shutout over Siena Heights. He struck out four and walked only one. Steve Wido (Jr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) provided the big blow with a two-run double in the fourth inning. R. J. Vukovich (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) had two singles and an RBI.
Walsh meets Ave Maria at 2:30 pm tomorrow and Webber International under the lights at 7:30 pm.
