3.6.12 SOFTBALL: Cavs Split Twin Bill; Rout Malone in Opener

(Hardeesville, S.C.) Walsh (3-1) split games at the Smash Hit Tournament today. The Cavs routed Malone University 12-1, and then suffered a 4-1 setback to Brewton-Parker College.  The Cavs face the University of Findlay (1 pm) and Milligan College (3 pm) tomorrow.

Walsh scored four runs in the first inning and five in the sixth in their win over Malone (1-2).  Olivia Jesionek(Fr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) hit a grand slam in the sixth.  Kayla Marcus (So., Bergholz, OH/Edison) and Kelsey Ford (Sr., Boardman, OH/HS) each went 2-3 with a double and RBI, and Eryn Simon (So., Oregon, OH/Clay) was 2-2 with a double and RBI.  Freshman Hanna Dodson (Newark, OH/Licking Valley) earned her first collegiate win allowing one unearned run on four hits.  She fanned five and walked only one.

Brewton-Parker touched Cavs’ starter Erin Ebert (Jr., Jeromesville, OH/Hillsdale) for three unearned runs in a four-run second inning in the nightcap.  Ebert allowed four hits and fanned four.  Walsh’s Dana Brown (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) went 2-2.
