3.7.13 SOFTBALL: Cavs Post Sweep

(Kissimmee, FL) Walsh improved to 6-2 after winning both ends of a split double header today. The Cavs defeated Wheeling Jesuit 6-2 and Northern State 3-2. The Cavs close Rebel Games action with another split double header tomorrow. They meet Caldwell at 9 am and Notre Dame College at 11 am.

Erin Ebert went the distance in the opener to improve to 2-1 on the season. She fanned nine and scattered six hits. Walsh took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Kaleigh Cupka (So., Streetsboro, Walsh Jesuit) triple. After Wheeling tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, Walsh snapped the tie with three runs in the fifth and then added two in the seventh. Chelsy Testa (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) went 2-4 and had an RBI and Calee Ruppel (So., Mogadore, OH/HS) also drove in a run. Cupka was 2-4.

Casi Rohr (So., Massillon, OH/Perry/Toledo) went the distance to pick-up the win. She fanned six and allowed only one earned run to improve to 3-0. Olivia Jesionek (So., Parma, OH/Holy Name) worked the seventh to earn the save. Kayla Marucs (Jr., Bergholz, OH/Edison) went 3-3, Anna Fach (So., Massillon, OH/Perry/John Carroll) had two hits, Testa hit her second home run of the spring and Eryn Simon (Jr., Oregon, OH/Clay) hit her first round tripper of the season.
