3.7.14 SOFTBALL: Cavs Lose Lead, Game to Cedarville; Fall to Dominican
(CLERMONT, Fla.) Walsh (7-5) lost both ends of a split double header in their final day at the Dot Richardson Games in Clermont, Florida. Cedarville University rallied to beat the Cavs 10-7 in the first game, and Dominican College scored two late runs and won the second game 2-1.
Walsh wasted a 7-0 lead, and lost the first game 10-7 to Cedarville University. The Cavs scored five runs in the first inning, and then added two more in the second. The Yellow Jackets trailed 7-3, when they exploded for seven runs off of three Walsh pitchers in the fifth inning. Chesly Testa (Sr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) and Rachel Dedinsky (Sr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/SVSM) each had two hits for the Cavs, and Abby Reusser (Fr., Orrville, OH/HS) had a double and two RBI. Maggie Murphy (Fr., Dover, OH/HS) was charged with loss in relief.
Jenna Head's (Fr., Mautua, OH/Crestwood) sacrifice fly scored Testa in the first inning of game two, and Casi Rohr made the run stand up until Domincan scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to win 2-1. Rohr took a no-hitter into the inning, when Shannon Haukap broke-up the no-no with a one out single to short. After the next batter walked, Kimberly Ragazzo stroked a two-run double to left. Rohr fanned five in the loss and falls to 4-2.
Walsh plays at the Salem (VA) Tournament next weekend.
