4.1.12 BASEBALL: Cavs Sweep Fisher; Back to .500

(Lynn, MA) Walsh swept an American Mideast Conference double header from Fisher College (10-18, 1-3) by the scores of 9-4 and 16-1.  The Cavs are now 14-14 overall and 3-1 in the AMC.  The Cavs are home to Houghton College on Tuesday and Wednesday for back-to-back twin bills.

Walsh banged out 15 hits in the opener and had at least seven players register two hits.  The Cavs broke the game open with five runs in the third inning to lead 7-0.  Forrest Boggs (Jr., Suffield, OH/Field/Mercyhurst) went 3-4 with a double and three RBI.  Trevor Smith (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) was 3-5 with a double and Tim Stinson (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) was 2-5 with a two RBI and a double.  Billy Gura (Sr., Sagamore Hills, OH/St. Peter Chanel) was the starter and winner for the Cavs and improves to 4-2.  Gura went six innings allowing four runs on four hits.

The Cavs put 15 hits on the board in the nightcap as well.  The Cavs scored runs in each of the first five innings, including six in the second. Drew Link (So., Granville, OH/HS) went 3-4 with two RBI, Justin Clements (So., Massillon, OH/Jackson) was 3-5, Sam Fondriest (So.,) was 2-4 with three RBI and Tyler Jones (Sr., Mansfield, OH/Madison) drove in two runs with a double. Freshman Joe Tann (Canton, OH/Central Catholic) went five innings to pick-up the win.  Tann (2-1) allowed one run on five hits with two strikeouts.
