4.10.13 SOFTBALL: Eagles Fly by Cavs in Game One: Second Game Suspended

(Ashland, OH) Ashland (17-13, 11-4) broke open a tight game with six runs in the bottom of the ffith inning in beating Walsh (13-10, 4-7) 9-1 in the first game of a scheduled GLIAC doubleheader. Game two was suspended in the third inning and will only be played if it effects the GLIAC standings for the post season.

Walsh took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Chelsy Testa (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) led off with a double to left-center field. Testa then stole third and came home on a Fallon Gawry (Fr., Chardon, OH/HS) triple to right.

Ashland tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and took the lead with two runs in third. The wheels fell off the wagon when the Eagles scored six runs in home half of the fifth inning.

Casi Rohr (So., Massillon, OH/Perry/Toledo) was the starter and loser for the Cavs, falling to 7-4. She was charged with seven runs, but only three were earned. The Cavs committed four errors.

The Cavs are home to Saginaw Valley on Friday (12 pm), Tiffin on Saturday (1 pm) and Ohio Dominican on Sunday (12 pm). All three are GLIAC doubleheaders.
