4.11.12 BASEBALL: Boggs Named AMC Player of the Week

Forrest Boggs (Jr., 6-2, Suffield, OH/Field/Mercyhurst) has been announced as the American Mideast Conference Player of the Week for April 2-8. He gave pitchers fits all week as he hit safely in seven of eight games for a batting average of .478 (11-23). The Cavaliers went 6-2 during the week in a pair of four-game series with Houghton and Urbana.

The first baseman hit four home runs and two doubles during that stretch with 12 runs batted in and nine runs scored. Two of those home runs came in a 20-3 victory over visiting Houghton. He walked five times, was hit by a pitch twice, and struck out only two times.

Boggs is hitting .383 for the season and leads the team in home runs with seven.
