4.12.11 WOMEN'S GOLF: Cavs Win AMC Championship by 53 Strokes; Kim Smith AMC Medalist

(Chesterland, OH) NAIA No. 21 Walsh (40-11) ran away from the four-team field at the American Mideast Conference Championships today, winning by 53 strokes to capture their third straight conference title. Walsh scored 332 in the 18-hole event, played at Berkshire Golf Course. Malone University finished a distant second (385), Ursuline College was third (500) and Point Park University fourth (553).
Kim Smith (Jr., Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) captured medalist honors, and All-AMC accolades after firing a 79. Smith has earned All-AMC honors for the third straight year. Walsh captured the top four spots and recorded five of the top seven scores.
Nikki Kulasa (Jr., Amherst, OH/Amherst Steele) and Katy Collins (Jr., Youngstown, OH/Ursuline) earned All-AMC honors and tied for second as each carded an 81. Kulasa earns All-AMC for the second straight year and Collins for the third straight year. Abbey Kimar (Jr., Canton, OH/Jackson) earned All-AMC honors with a fourth place finish (91) and Katie Kohut (So., Twinsburg, OH/Walsh Jesuit) earned All-AMC honors with a sixth place finish (93). Kohut also earned All-AMC honors last year. Courtney Klemens (Jr., Concord, OH/Mentor) finished ninth (98).
