Women's Track & Field, 2014-04-12

(PITTSBURGH) - Walsh traveled to the Steel City today as participants in the Robert Morris Bennie Benson Invitational on Saturday. The Cavaliers had placers in quite a few events, but the meet was unscored for team results.

Stephanie Foster (Sr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) continued to dominate her event with a first place finish at  3.75 meters, or 12 feet, 3.5 inches. She has yet to lose an outdoor meet this season and won by almost an entire foot.

Occasionally an athlete will reach a personal best which will be a highlight of a meet. That was the case for Annie Wise (So., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) who set a new PR with a time of 2:18.83 in the 800 meter run. She finished fourth place in the event as a result.

Lissa Yoder (Sr., Cortland, OH/Maplewood) was second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:59.76. Kelsey Dickey (Jr., Cortland, OH/Lakeview) placed fourth in the same event with a time of 11:25.43.

The women’s 4x100 meter relay team finished second with a time of 51.39. The team consisted of Erica Hicks (So., Garfield Heights, OH/Trinity), Erin Peskura (So., Strongsville, OH/HS), Liz Broome (Sr., Doylestown, OH/Chippewa), and Larissa Ziegler (Jr., North Ridgeville, OH/Elyria Catholic). The 4x400 meter relay team also placed as the team of Carly Walters (Sr., Twinsburg, OH/Trinity), Margaret Liberatore (Fr., Concord, OH/Riverside), Kourtney Kelly (Fr., Middlefield, OH/Cardinal), and Wise finished fourth with a time of 4:09.97.

Walters finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.94. Hicks also finished fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.47.

Walsh will next compete in its only home meet of the season this Thursday. The Cavaliers host Ashland, Malone, and Ohio Dominican in a quad meet before they travel to Columbus on the weekend for the Jesse Owens Classic.
