4.13.14 WOMEN'S GOLF: Cavs Sixth After First Day of JBMF Cavalier Classic

(CANTON, Ohio) – After the first day of the JBMF Cavalier Classic, Walsh stands sixth in a field of 13 teams at Glenmoor Country Club. The Cavaliers wrapped up the day with a team score of 338. Grand Valley leads the field with a score of 309. Ashland is in second with a score of 326. California (Pa.) sits in third with a score of 329 while Findlay stands a stroke back in forth. Ferris State is two strokes ahead of Walsh with a 336 to round out the top five.
The highlight of the day for the Cavs by far was the play of Jenny Tasangeos (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak). She carded a 76, 38 on both the front and back nine, and is tied for second with Grand Valley’s Julie Guckian. GVSU’s Kelly Hartigan is first individually with a score of 75.
The rest of the Cavaliers were farther down the list as Meghan Hatfield (So., North Canton, OH/Jackson) and Amanda Griffin (Jr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) both shot an 86 and were tied for 30th overall. Kayla Hardesty (So., Minerva, OH/Marlington) scored a 90 and Raven Venegas (Fr., Lima, OH/Shawnee) rounded out Walsh’s top five with a 93.
The Cavs also played a second team that finished the first day with a score of 396. Nicole Asbun (Fr., La Paz, Bolivia/St. Andrews) led the Maroon team with a score of 85. Paige Victor (Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) scored a 100, Gina DePasquale (Fr., Hubbard, OH/HS) scored a 102, and Brooke Morgan (Fr., Akron, OH/Firestone) carded a 109.
