Women's Lacrosse, 2013-04-14
Walsh fell to visiting Wheeling Jesuit by a score of 15-3 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Vasco Field Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers drop to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference with the loss. The Cardinals improve to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC.
Wheeling Jesuit controlled the pace early on and scored the first nine goals of the game and shutout the Cavs 9-0 in the first half. Walsh was able to get a little momentum going early in the second half with a pair of goals by Holly Axline (So., 5-0, North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Mary Myers (Sr., 5-5, Stow, OH/Walsh Jesuit) to cut the deficit to 9-2, but the Cardinals answered with a pair of goals of their own. Axline added another goal, but Walsh could not get any closer.
Tia Tyler (Fr., 5-8, Columbus, OH/St. Francis DeSales) made seven saves in goal for the Cavs.
Walsh returns to action at Grand Valley State University this Friday for a 7 p.m. game. The Cavs will close out their home schedule against Urbana a week from today at 2 p.m.
