4.14.14 MEN'S GOLF: Cavs Finish 17th at Purgatory Regional

(NOBLESVILLE, Ind.) – Walsh improved up 317 on its first day score by 12 strokes to finish tied for 17th in the Purgatory Regional No. 4 on Monday. The Cavaliers shot a 622 over the two day event with a 317 yesterday and a 305 today. Southern Indiana and Maryville also finished with a 622.

Wayne State won the event with a 596. Grand Valley finished second by two strokes. Missouri-St. Louis, McKendree and Lewis rounded out the top five. Walsh was 24th after the first day.

Brandon Shannon (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) was the top golfer for the Cavs as he finished with a 154. Nick Paxos (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak/Cleveland State), Walsh’s leader after the first day, was second on the team with a 155. Nick Colangelo (Fr., Canton, OH/Jackson) shot a 156 and Jeff Cockerham (Jr., Akron, OH/Ellet) hit a 157 to create a three stroke difference for Walsh’s top four. Zach Keylor rounded out the team with a 176. The Cavs’ top four on Monday all shot in the seventies.

Walsh will return to the links on Saturday at Winding Hollow Golf Course in New Albany, Ohio.
