Walsh (23-21) split a twin bill with Shawnee State University (30-21) today, winning game one 10-7 and losing the nightcap 4-3. The Cavs return to action on Saturday, when they host Notre Dame College in a double header at 1 pm.

Walsh rallied from a 5-0 deficit to win game one 10-7. The Bears chased Walsh starter Danny Roper (Fr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) with back-to-back homers in a five-run first inning.  After trailing 6-0 in the second the Cavs rallied with two runs in the second inning, one in the third and four in the fourth.  The Cavs were aided by two walks, two hit batsmen and two errors in the four-run frame.  Sam Fondriest (So., Dover, OH/Tusky Central Catholic) snapped a 7-7 with a safety squeeze bunt in the fifth.  The Cavs put the game away with two runs in the sixth inning, keyed by four straight singles.  Cory Johnston (Jr., Medina, OH/HS/CCC) came in relief of Roper in the first and held the Bears to two runs in six innings of work to pick-up the win to even his record at 2-2.  Roberto Morales (Jr., Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) worked the seventh to pick-up his first save of the season.  Steve Wido (Jr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) homered and drove in two runs and was on base four times.  Tim Stinson (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) also drove in two runs.

Walsh took a 2-1 lead in the first inning of game two on Justin Clements (So., Massillon, OH/Jackson) two-run homer.  Andy DePeel (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) then singled home Stinson with two outs to give the Cavs a 3-1 first inning lead.  The Bears scored a run off of Walsh starter Joe Tann (Fr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) in the fourth and tied a game with a two-out double in the sixth.  Cody Morrison then hit a solo homer in the seventh off of David Roper (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) to break the 3-3 tie. Roper was charged with the loss.
