She finished first in the event by 3.5 meters. Beatty was just over a foot away from winning the shot put with a distance of 12.35 meters, but still finished in second.
Also finishing first in the Stark County Tri were Shannon Montgomery (Fr., Newton Falls, OH/HS) and Kayla Braun (Jr., Hudson, OH/HS). Montgomery won the discus with a throw of 39.2 meters, or 128’07”, which beat her closest competitor by almost 10 feet. Braun won the javelin with a throw of 34.21 meters, or 112’03”.
