4.19.12 MEN'S TENNIS: Cavs Defeat Cedarville 8-1

Walsh nearly made a clean sweep of visiting Cedarville with an 8-1 victory at the Klekotka Tennis Complex Thursday afternoon. The Cavaliers (15-4) have now won nine straight. The Yellow Jackets fall to 8-13.

The Cavs started on a high note by taking all three doubles matches. Mark Innes (Sr., Randburg, South Africa/Kings School) and Jon Esber (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) led the way at first doubles with an 8-3 win. C.J. Kugler (Sr., Dover, OH/HS) and Chase Pucci (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) won 8-6 at second doubles and Diego Yung (Sr., Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires) and Christian McCauley (Fr., Hartville, OH/Lake) won 8-3 at third doubles.

In singles action, Yung, Innes, Esber, McCauley, and Kugler all took home victories in the top five slots. Innes now has an individual singles winning streak of five matches. Esber won the closest contest of the day. He dropped the first set 6-4, but then won the second set by the same score and took the tiebreaker 10-8.

Walsh is now idle until Saturday when the Cavs host Wittenberg and Case Western.
