4.19.14 BASEBALL: Cards Win Rubber Game

(UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.) On the strenght of a five-run second inning, Saginaw Valley (11-20, 8-13) downed the Cavs (18-22, 10-12) 7-2 to win the rubber game of the three-game GLIAC series.The Cavs remain in 8th place, but are just two games out of fourth place in the conference race. Walsh is at Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday for a GLIAC double header at 2 pm.

The Cardinals put five runs on the board against Walsh starter, and loser, Ian Drapcho (Sr., Dover, OH/HS) in the second inning. SVSU rapped out six singles in the inning.

Walsh scored their runs in the fifth inning. Jordan Shank (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) collected an RBI single. The Cavs had just three hits on the day. Johnny Knight (Fr., Jefferson, OH/Area) had a fifth inning double, and Brook Clark  (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) had a single and two walks.
