4.20.13 SOFTBALL: Cavs Drop Pair in Michigan

(Hillsdale, MI) Hillsdale (8-14, 7-8) took both ends of GLIAC doubleheader from Walsh (15-17, 6-14) today by the scores of 11-1 (5) and 6-5. The Cavs play two at the University of Findlay tomorrow, with game one starting at noon.

Hillsdale took game one 11-1 in five innings. The Chargers chased Walsh starter Casi Rohr (So., Massillon, OH/Perry/Toledo) with four runs in the second inning and seven in the third. Marissa Bondoni (Fr., Alliance, OH/HS) relieved Rohr in the fourth. Rohr falls to 7-9. Walsh scored an unearned run in the fourth.

After the Chargers scored in the top of the first inning of the nightcap to take a 1-0 lead, Erin Ebert (Sr., Jeromesville, OH/HS) threw shutout ball the next four innings to keep the Cavs in the game. Walsh would respond with a five-run fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. Fallon Gawry’s (Fr., Chardon, OH/HS) single put the Cavs up 4-1, with the fifth run scoring on a ground ball. The lead held until the seventh, when Hillsdale scored five times. Miriam McKay’s two-out, two-run single provided the Chargers with the winning runs. Ebert went the distance and was charged with the loss, she falls to 6-7.
