4.21.13 SOFTBALL: Findlay Takes Two

Softball, 2013-04-21

(Findlay, OH) The University of Findlay (25-9, 13-7) took both ends of a GLIAC doubleheader from Walsh (16-20, 6-16) by the scores of 4-0 and 8-2.

Findlay held the Cavs to three singles in winning the opener 4-0. The day belonged to the Oilers' Carly Borders, who drove in all four runs with a sacrifice fly and three-run homer in the fifth. Casi Rohr (So., Massillon, OH/Perry/Toledo) went the distance and was charged with loss to fall to 7-10.

The Oilers jumped on the Cavs with three runs in the first inning and two in the second in game two. Walsh added a single run in the second, but Findlay put three runs on board in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Calee Ruppel (So., Mogadore, OH/HS) went  3-4 and scored both of the Cavs' runs.  Eryn Simon (Jr., Oregon, OH/Clay)  was 2-4 with an RBI. Erin Ebert (Sr., Jeromesville, OH/Hillsdale) started, but lasted only 1.1 innings and was tagged for five runs on five hits and took the loss to fall to 6-8. Marissa Bondoni (Fr., Alliance, OH/HS) relieved Ebert and was touched for one earned run in the final 5.2 innings.
