4.23.11 BASEBALL: Malone Blanks Cavs 4-0, Twice

Malone University (32-17, 10-6) took both ends of an American Mideast Conference double header by identical scores of 4-0 at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium today. The losses drop the Cavs to 17-26 overall and to 3-13 in the AMC. Walsh is home on Tuesday for a non-conference game against Ohio Dominican University at 4 pm.

After scoring a single run in the first inning of game one, Malone put three runs on the board in the third to put the game away, Walsh managed just four hits, with Drew Link (Fr., Granville, OH/HS) going 2-4. Billy Gura (Jr., Sagamore Hills, OH/St. Peter Chanel) started for the Cavs and took the loss to fall to 1-3. Gura worked the first five innings and allowed four runs, but only two earned.

Malone opened the nightcap with two runs in the first inning, then added two more in the fifth. David Roper (So., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) started and took the loss and is 4-4 on the season. Steve Wido (So., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) was 3-3 with a double, and Dustin Lancy (Sr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/HS) 2-3.
