4.25.12 WOMEN'S TENNIS: Walsh Advances to OIC Finals

Walsh advanced to the finals of the Ohio Independent Championships with a 9-0 win over visiting Ursuline Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers (14-5) have now won five straight contests and will play the winner of Thursday’s match between Cedarville and Malone on Friday at Cedarville. The Arrows finish their season 3-6.

Shellie Webster (Jr., Lexington, OH/HS) and Alisha Angle (Fr., Lexington, OH/HS) both improved their individual win streaks to five matches and also won their fourth straight contest at first doubles. Webster leads the team with 15 individual matches won during the season. Also winning singles matches were Kayla Shaheen (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic), Allison St. George (Jr., Boardman, OH/Cardinal Mooney), Jaclyn DiDomenico (So., Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney), and Kara Papatheodoro (Sr., North Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas). Rebeka Beresh (Sr., North Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) also participated in doubles action as she teamed up with DiDomenico. Beresh and Papatheodorou were playing in their final match at home.
